Why or what rhyme of reason would a best friend have to make something like that up yet I've seen it happen so many times the girl always gets pissed at the bestie that "lied on her boyfriend"! Now eventually dumb dumb ends up finding out the hard way but it generally will take a shady bish like that to catch their boyfriend in the act, these type of false live in denial and it's sad. On the other side of the coin, it's really not the best friends place to tell her friend that her man is a POS and cheating on her and I've done that ever since my childhood bestie ended our friendship I've instead when I found out I did confront friends boyfriend or the other girl when the opportunity presented itself and told them they need to tell my friend. Also, when my other bestie now bff of 30 years came to me and told me my highschool/college sweetheart cheated on me I did what a real one should. I dumped my sweetheart after 8 years of dating and plans to marry in the future and spoke to him once six months later ,told him I was happier than I'd ever been and living my best life!
