I use the Nikon Z8 w/24-70 2.8S / 105 2.8S for my woodland photography, but when I'm out with the family I bought a Canon 6D + 50 1.8 STM just for the fun factor. Both cameras make me want to shoot. So ill probably pick up the stellar Z 50 1.8 S for the Z8 & let my son use the 6D.

Some people really do have a naturally good sense for composition. My uncle started painting a couple years ago and I recently got to see all his works so far, all self-taught. He mainly paints landscapes from imagination + reference, as in he'll make up a landscape but use a tree or a mountain he can actually see to add those into it. And he understood intuitively when a composition worked and when it didn't, but he couldn't yet understand why! In one he said he didn't like I noticed that most of it was of the sky, and the landscape and especially the mountain he had painted looked tiny and unimportant compared to the big but uninteresting sky. I mentioned this and nudged him to look up on composition so he could understand better when he's doing something "right" and "wrong". Me who dropped out right before the end of an art degree and struggled with understanding composition and my uncle who just knows something's up halfway through a painting.

the insights are great and probably accurate, but they are still skewed due to you popularity. You were getting like counts that the average person doesn't get. I don't know anyone getting a like count of 300 sub 10K followers

The RX 100 wins. The iPhone has no zoom like the RX 100. No tilted screen which limits the angle from which you can comfortably take photos, the camera has more memory available, even if you have a 256 GB iPhone , you know you can’t use all those 256 GB for photo memory. The phone has a bunch of applications that uses that real state too. The lenses of the iPhones are more prone to be scratched and damaged than the lenses of the cameras, think how many times you drop your iPhone vs how many times you drop your camera ? iPhones have screen covers for the front lense which means that selfies are subjected to the level of cleanliness of that front cover. You don’t have those issues with cameras lenses. Memory wise, most people fill the memory of their phone faster before they fill the memory of a camera. Most phone damage, also translate to the lost of photos. I still have photos taken 10 years back because precisely they were not taken with cell phones. Most of phone photos disappear for various reason, stolen phones, damaged phones, replaced phones etc , photos taken with cameras tends to last longer and safer. One day a person can saturatenthe meromy card of the camera and not loosing the phone usages. But you can lose your phone usage if you over saturate your phone memory capacity. Phone become slower and erratic with multiple notifications popping up on your screen regarding the phone running low on memory. But at the end of the day, phone doesn’t has control to shoot in manual readily available as a camera has and that zoom says it all. Besides, the RX 100 still has a view finder. Another feature that a phone won’t give you.

It not fun any more because it's been exposed for what it is, ego, people wanting attention. It not fun anymore because it no longer even remotely special, no one really cares any more about pictures unless they are in them or someplace they are going, etc. All this talk about fancy camera's, it stupid, almost no one see them larger then 3 or 4 inches. AI is making it easier and easier to take "amazing pictures". The photographer who thinks he is some kind of artist is so dead The average 20 year old already had taken, framed, edited and published way more photographs, had more experience, feedback, then most "professionals" ever had in their lives. Photography was not what we all though it was and or what it was is gone! Everything he is talking about is attention, how to get more attention, how to stand out. Who cares unless you are selling cloths, porn or food, etc. This is the same old tired advice all the KZfaq photographers are giving out, it sounds good, goes nowhere. Times have changed, not even news agencies care much about it, photographers laid off, pictures from cell phones taking over. Most "photographers" like this dude can only find money and attention in SM.

The best ? How much Nikon paid or Nikon has offered that Z8 ? It's an excellent camera but as many and many camera nowadays . At 58 years old, i don't know how many camera I had ... but I'm sure everyone can use and old camera and be happy , no need the last one , expansive even if everybody tries to make you think you need it ..

Exactly right. My nephew is a pro photographer and videographer. He said he mostly saw Sony when began as he was using Fuji at the time. He eventually switched as he finally understood why. The Sony was just simply faster with autofocus and was critical in pro work. It was never about the brand but its all about the capabilities of the camera for the job.

I completely agree with what you said in the end. My experience was that as soon as I started taking pictures for others making money, it took away all I love about photography. That‘s why I don‘t want to do it full-time professionally. For me, photography is a way to relax, enjoy myself and take in the world around me (especially nature).

Photo walks are always my preferred entertainment, but discussing the philosophy behind the craft interests me almost as much. My parents gave me my first SLR 48 years ago. In the late 70s and early 80s, I made money taking some portraits, copying older photographs (to preserve the history), and mostly, darkroom work. I love photography, but I don't want it as my job. I've driven a truck for decades now. My profession allows me opportunity for my passion. Social media gets intentionally flawed photos. Family gets to see what I like. I don't want to be known as a photographer... being one, for the sake of the image, is so much better.
