This is amazing! There’s bath fitter over our beautiful 1950s tub which I am sure is blue (like the toilet and sink) and I desperately want to uncover it!

I'm a refinish technician for a company with a few locations across the US. I'm interested in some other products outside of the company blended materials I'm using. I'm seeing some in this video are there any others you'd recommend?

Looks beautiful!!! Why doesn't the factory paint the underside of the slide?

It would be cool to finish one with a design on it similar to what you see on surf boards.

Primer was AWLGrips, I must have missed what the top coat was called, is it porcelain? Great job, they look awesome! Thank you for sharing…

So this is just a high grade epoxy paint as opposed to an actual porcelain finish, correct?

why not just repair the crack in the liner?
@billhandley9435 ай бұрын
The liner can leak at the 3 seams as well as those cracks. I also own a reglazing business and was called to a customer for an issue with their liner. Turned out water had seeped behind, you could hear it swishing all around between the liner and tub. There had to be gallons of water trapped.

I like that you specifically say why it’s not recommended to diy strip, and also why the chemical says not to use on baths… because it needs professional respirators and mechanical ventilation. Here’s me always thinking the “not for” is because it’ll melt the object or something 😂. That scraping was so satisfying when it behaved. LOVE that you give pricing at the end as well (I’d add again that it’s because of a removal and coat), and to see your other videos for different results, because so often people want to get someone in to do a job but no one will even give a ballpark so I figure it’s way out of budget that I don’t bother. So this is a pleasant surprise 😊

Being that these are very old, they’re probably lead paint is it wise to sand them?
@durafinishinc.25779 ай бұрын
Hi, Lead dust is a concern for some items, especially if painted before the 1970's. I usually sand using a vac system on the sander with HEPA filter for dust and also sometimes do so in the paint booth with the exhaust fan running, as well as using a respirator. (not paper mask). As far as doing something like this at home... if lead is a concern, you can get the lead test kits by 3M, then at least you know what you're working with. As far as the coatings that we're using, none contain lead. Thanks for asking. Jon

@durafinishinc.25779 ай бұрын
Its just for your information, letting you know that the porcelain is worn enough to leach lead. If you reglaze, it will no longer test positive.
@jessyjess13735 ай бұрын
@@durafinishinc.2577Hi. NYC. I did test on my reglazed bat tub and test is positive. I called 311, cause we have toddler at home. 311 said we don't have options for bath tub lead complain, and that Lead unit never allowed testing bath tubs 😮.

Just wondering why the cabinet doors were left on for painting?
@durafinishinc.25779 ай бұрын
They dont come off easily. and that way both sides can be painted at the same time.
