Could i remove the cam carrier and vvc mechs all as one unit to reseal the cam carrier to the head? I had my head skimmed after HGF and the place i took it to has used RTV to seal it, its been 8 months and its now pissing oil out. funny how when i fitted the sump with 574 its bone dry!
@gregoryelgood18 күн бұрын
You will need to remove the oil control valve to access the bolt underneath, but you can remove with the cams and control shaft in, you will just need to make sure it get it timed up through the Inspection holes. Yes rtv is lethal in this circumstance, if it don't leak, it will block up the oil galleries to the cams.

please help, i changed the spark plug from cheap spares part shop, and the car did not start, i though maybe it was becasue the car has been parked for too long I tried to jump start it, still it did not start, I then went to the agent and bought what I asumed is the original as I bought the spark plug from the agent but the car wouldn't start, when i check on the cluster i see the is massge saying in water fuel.I have opened the fuel pressure sensor and water came out on the fuel rail by the injectoer and bit of petroll still the car does not start,, please i also changed the oil and all the service kits. the das board does come on but not cranking, the car does ot show any sign .i also checked the runner and fuse to see if are not faulty but all was good. i replaced the cranking runner fuse thinking it was faulty,, any idea why?

Hi Greg, great videos and they've been a real help. Could you tell me where you sourced the longer wheel studs and the wheel nuts without those silly decorative caps? I'm doing some club racing and would like to do the same. Thx
@gregoryelgoodАй бұрын
The studs came from a chap called Dan Surridge who runs cmc motorsport, quite well known in the MG community. The wheel nuts are just standard, as I need to run standard wheels and have the floating washer on them, just remove the chrome cover and use an 18mm socket on the nuts. Glad I've been of some use 😂 and your enjoying the videos.
@brockbenson4603Ай бұрын
@@gregoryelgood Thanks Greg, I'll follow that contact up! By the way, did you have a good way to get those tin covers off the wheel nuts? I tried prying them with no luck, ended up cutting one, but it scored the nut underneath :(
@gregoryelgoodАй бұрын
@brockbenson4603 I wedged the spinning washer in the vice and used a punch and hammer. Sometimes the washer comes off the nut easy to put back on with a hammer. Not too much effort is needed.

Hi Gregory dont forget the amps will change when the engine is running ur prob around 12.4v not running the engine and around 14v running the engine this means when the engine is running it will use less amps so for example 2x65w bulbs would be 130w so 130w divided by 12 would be 10.8 amps but at 14 volts it would be 130w divided by 14v equals 9.3amps

@gregoryelgood Is there's anyway to program the pmu so some outputs are constant hot? What if we made the pmu16 power up input constant hot and set it so when the Key power input loses power those allocated outputs remain powered up. I'm installing one into a customers car now. The flashing light it quite common on this car, because I have competition engine mounts, the harmonics of the engine makes the ecu seem there's a misfire.

Could you not modify the existing exhaust and reshape it to be oval where it goes under the car at the lowest point?
@gregoryelgood3 ай бұрын
It will probably reshape itself over time 😅
@smartbox123tv3 ай бұрын
Bolts will only get rounded off by using the wrong socket like a 12 point. You need to use 6 point sockets to prevent rounding.

Wow that’s low. Bigger wheels not an option? Regarding camber. Would the TF ball joints add more camber? Or slotting the wishbone balljoint bolts?
@gregoryelgood3 ай бұрын
I would like to keep the wheels as I love the look of them compared to others. It already has the tf ball joints on it but they won't make the difference in the camber. I ideally need to bring the top of the tyre in and slotting the bottom ball joints will only bring the bottom of the tyre out, which will give my camber but in the wrong place. The mike satur camber kit will bring the top arm in which will bring the top of the tyre in, clearing the tyre to the wheel arch. Some one has made a good suggestion of raising the engine and gearbox mounts to hopefully give me more clearance.

The control panel above the drivers head may be against the MSUK yearbook as sufficient padding must be in place around the driver. Section 1.3.6. The wiring is fantastic Greg really interested in this side of motorsport. Have you looked in to "e fuses" which allow for a sudden high amp draw then stabalise? May make life easer? Also known as slown burn fuses.
@gregoryelgood3 ай бұрын
Thanks Ben, I will double check, but worse comes to worse I can move it over above the rear view mirror and put the padding in it's place, it's still almost an arms stretch out where it is so even in an accident my head should be no were near it. No haven't looked at that option, just thought this option was the best/newest thing to do to try and bring an old car into new present technology
