I’m a catsitter and fosterer. Most cats will improve over time. Some slower than others. It takes a lot of patience. I’ve got one difficult case in particular: a very large male cat who attacked me several times in a frenzy. I’m scared of and sorry for him simultaneously

I really need to ask you a question? If woke up 2 times with my 10 month kitten/ cat with his teeth pressed up on my throat?! Is this normal? The second time I had to get my fingers to release his bite! And yesterday the same on my arm?

When my cat first moved in with me, we had many territorial disputes. Let's just say that some of the earliest forms of aggression were quite violent. I cured this rather easily. Every time he'd attack me, I'd let him tear at my hand and arm while laughing at him. This, of course, would make him angrier and angrier the more I laughed, until he finally understood the futility of his violence and would run away. Very quickly, he learned that his violence would get him no where and he began to approach our disagreements with more diplomacy.

...I grabbed Marlene when she was attacking Cat Stevens in the laundry room. I had her by the scruff of her neck but she rolled around and sunk her fangs into my wrist. Fascinating to watch her head rock back and forth as she dug in her fangs right to her gums. I leaned onto her with my knee until she squawked and let me go. The doctor had to convince me to accept a hemotap and come in daily for 4-5 days to get intranvenous antibiotics. "Can't I just take a pill?" I asked. "Do you want to die?" was his reply.

i dont let my cat get away with the smallest amount of aggresion, it gets put in the kennel for an hour if it hisses. doesnt have any problems at all now, just dont let your cat tell you what the rules are because its "just that kind of cat"

Where is part 2? I need help. I’ve had an extremely aggressive cat for five years. I put him on Prozac and was able to train him to receive grooming (he was beat with a brush by the previous guardian), but lately he’s back to attack while grooming, and sometimes at other times. I want to start clicker training him, but I can’t find instructions for applying that approach to aggression while grooming. The less I am able to groom, the more matted he gets, and the more aggressive he gets. It’s a vicious cycle. Help!\

Ive got a mama cat thats feral. Ive been feeding several cats that i don't consider mine. This mama has decided to keep her babies between my bed and my night stand. Then she moved them several times, until now, she moved them under my couch. I always leave my front door open. Anytime another creature passes by she goes into full blown attack mode. This isnt even my cat. Its feral and very viscous. Sh attacks the hell out of my other cats. Now i put cinder blocks in front of the couch so sh cant spring out at me or any other animals that pass by. I cant have this cat get ahold of me or another orphan kitten that im taking care of. Now she has to go around the backside of he couch and theres a window she can go in and out of. Her kittens are still very small but I can't wait for this cat to get out of my house. Any suggestions?

Yes… close your door. There’s zero reason to have a feral cat in your home. Especially if not fixed and probably not vaccinated, wormed, etc. Pretty sure this video isn’t even considering someone has an absolutely wild animal in their home along with domestic “foster” kittens.. Call animal control. There’s your solution…

A cat has a sense of smell 14 times more sensitive than humans. We use so many chemicals in the house...on our skin, clothes and furniture. How terrible it is when a cat has a headache from some smell every single day and can't tell you. It would put anyone in a bad temper. One of the rarely considered reasons for feline aggression maybe?

This 4 month old foster kitten I am taking care of keeps smacking my older cats. My senior female Persian is so upset, she’s now using the tv couch as a toilet 😢 (the kitten bully smacks and hisses at my cats). My cat cannot eat, sleep or lounge in peace without the kitten coming by and causing ruckus for no reason, only because she feels my home is her’s… Im literally going out of my way to give my house pets personal space, and keep them in another room. I’m praying some one will adopt the foster soon. In the mean time, I am teaching it manners and setting boundaries

Smack that rat over its head the next time he bullies the Persian. Sometimes these things only understand the language of violence.

@@omarj6967 It sucks and it takes forever, but I just had to follow the Eat, Play, Love repertoire. I feed them together, then immediately after eating I play with both of them. I use a toy mouse on the end of a shoe string and I'll fling it towards one of them, let it swipe at it a few times, then I'll fling it toward the other one. I make sure they're both playing at the same time and getting enough turns with the toys. I'll also use a laser toy and they'll take turns chasing it around. Then when I'm done playing, I give them treats and praise. Give them both a treat at the same time and pet them both and praise them while they munch. 3x a day. 15 mins of play time each time. Then, when I'm chilling -- if I see the aggressive cat giving the other one the eyes, or approaching in a stalking manner, I immediately redirect its attention with the laser light. Gradually they became fine with each other. Feliway was the game changer though. You still have to put in the work, but after you've gotten them at least neutral, the feliway basically makes it so I don't have to be on guard for random instances of aggression. If one is walking past the other, I don't have to brace myself for the swipe. They're chill now, but it took a good month of this every day.

On re-directed aggression, I find this fascinating bcause in general cts have lightening reflexes. My cat be agitated by one thing and quite worked up, but will not take it out on a human. Even when playing aggressively, she will not go after anyone or thing else other than the object. If she is surprised while playing - say someone touches her hind quarters - sure, she will turn and prepare to bite or swat, but once she identifies it's not an attack, she stops, and possibly runs away a few steps. She can be growling at a cat on her territory and still the same applies.

My cat used to be kind, loving, and gentle. Now at 6 years, she is aggressive - she has attacked me for just walking in my porch, leaving me bloody, bruised, with cuts on my feet and legs. I have been attacked twice by dogs when I was young- the attack by my cat was 10 times worst - least the dog instantly felt guilt.

Just found this video, and wow, this should definitely have more views. This made me realize a few of my cats exibit one or more of these aggressive behaviors (each cat has their own subset of aggressions they are more prone to, or none) that i have never been able to pinpoint before Edit: one form of aggression that one of my cats has that isnt really mentioned is a "loneliness aggression", if he feels he is being ignored he gets extremely jealous or angry. This applies to both humans and other cats, which makes it difficult to introduce him to other cats
