I was a kid wen the challenger disaster happened. We saw it live. A kids show called Puncky Bruster did an episode about it. I think Sesame Street did one to. I remember Big bird being very sad. They only said it was an accident. He mentioned that a teacher was lost and what about their families. This episode was aired a year after the Challenger though.

I have been to Berlin and seen many of the bear statues everywhere. They are all different colours and sizes and can be seen in many public places, such as shopping malls and on the streets of Berlin. They are known collectively as Berlin Bears.
