Your comment that your father played piano on the introduction, "Home To Emily", on the Bob Newhart Show, brought me here. For some reason "Home To Emily" struck me when I first heard it at age 8. My mother loved jazz and since I was an only, I entertained myself by playing her albums. Although I didn't always understand the comedy of the show, whenever it came on, I stopped because of the change in mood of that song. It made me just a little sad, but not to the point that I would avoid it. It drew me in. Anyway, I know you must be proud of your father and I appreciate this opportunity to learn about his artistry. 👍🏾🎹❤️

This sketch was apparently based on real life. John Cleese had a neighbor whose cat was always sitting in the same spot on the lawn, even during a light rain. So he talked it over with Graham Chapman, and they concluded the cat had grown complacent (which sounds to me like a cat version of a midlife crisis), and the result was this!
