When Great Britain was great! The last vestiges of our glorious past. Everyone is orderly and slim too, traffic is light to boot.

I love this roller coaster but it was so much better when it was painted like the senic railway. It hasn't got so much class now. If it was to go great Yarmouth would have had it.

Really really enjoyed this wonderful film - it captures the magic and romance of this brilliant sea side resort . The excitement I felt as my dad drove the Golden mile in the early 70s is still with me ; and of course walking the sea front and Regent Road was the best .

Great Yarmouth certainly attracts a lower class of citizen now so the people back then weren't so small minded, they were correct

The East Anglian Film Archive has identified this film as being made in 1958. It was, apparently, the only year that Tommy Cooper performed a season in Great Yarmouth. The Benny Hill shot shows the date of his performance as Sunday 13th July which matches the 1958 calendar. Of course, it is possible that some of the shots in the film were taken in other years.

I believe this film was made in the early 60s judging by the cars. There is a Wolsely 1500 in one scene, and these were not produced until 1959, so the film could have ben made in 1959 at the earliest.

Lived in Yarmouth in '71. For a 14 yr old it was an absolute adventure and delight! I see lots of people on videos about Yarmouth complaining about how bad it is now. What did people expect? When working class people abandoned towns like this to get on a cheap flight to someplace warm and sunny, didn't you know you were killing your seaside towns?

@@maxcalver8780 omg, I had totally forgotten Bay City Rollers! For an American kid from suburbia, where you couldn't go anywhere without your parents driving you - this was such freedom! We had to be in by dark in summer, but that wasn't until 10:30 pm!

And no mention of the late, and often underrated, John Craven who's narration and journalism was many steps ahead of his rivals.
