Interesting, I have 8 Arlo A1 batteries that are not charged by the camera connected to a USB 5v 2.4A source. I did exactly as in the video, but using a variable power supply regulated at 9V for a few seconds. The voltage of the poles was 5.30V, but the camera does not start charging. If you test the poles of the board with the Multitest, the voltage is 0V.

mine did this as well but i put it in the camera and plugged the camera in. when i unplug the usb cable, the camera stayed on so the battery is working. when you popped the cover off the terminals you have to be careful and not rip the spot welds off of the board

So much suspense with the background music for a dead battery revive video

A little long to show the idea, but yes, this works. You jump the charge to the interior battery terminals, because that bypasses the circuit board. You need to bypass that board because it limits the current to prevent the battery from charging when it gets into this completely discharged state. It HAS to do that because a battery this dead presents a near-dead-short and the circuit is design to cut it off to prevent it from overheating. You definitely want to jump-charge it only for a few seconds at a time, especially at first, because it will draw a lot of current and could overheat or explode. So charge it for about 10 sec, then let it rest for 10, then do another 10, and so on, for a few minutes. Then you can put it back in the camera and let the regular charger do its thing. (I did it with a bench power supply and a current meter so I could see the current and watch for when it came down, but I'm assuming folks just want a practical "kitchen table" fix for this).

I finally got the chance to mess around with this battery and it all worked according to plan!! Who knows how long it will last. I hope that I don't have to take this battery apart a lot to keep it around. 🙏🙏🙏

Instead of charging, I've given a few zapped with smart car battery charger and it wakened up the battery, then charging it afterward.

i think he just used a 9 volt wall power adapter and cut the plug off and soldered on some alligator clips. any DC source between 5 and 9 volts would probably be okay

@@kobesparachute No, 5 volts is too low. It will not charge. He put caption text over the video that said use a charging voltage between 8 and 9. The battery pack clearly has a label that says, "Charge at 8.4v"

Is there a reason that you have to open the battery case? Why not just apply the voltage directly to the contacts?

also if you try to charge directly to the pins like i tried at first, it wont do anything because the battery board is setup to not allow charge once the battery is below a certain voltage
