I would move to West Virginia in a heart beat. I am a country girl at heart. So let's start with the door... the best thing I can recommend is go to where you are going to buy the paint (I got mine at Lowe's) and they should tell you what to do. I think you would have to prime a metal door before painting. I don't remember what color I got, but it was the color of the year for one of the paint companies. Don't worry too much, go to the paint chips and pick a color that is a greenish blue and it will work out. I had a different color under this (still a green blue) and it only came out slightly different. I don't think you can go wrong going with a aqua/seafoam/cinderella pumpkin color. So don't stress when picking the color. Scotchgarding sounds like the right thing to do... yes, these covers are always so expensive. Sometimes I used to find cushions at Tuesday Morning for a reasonable price, but I think they close down all of their stores (UNFORTUNATELLY). Yes, you did ask about lavender and I am sorry to say that I have ZERO LUCK with lavender. I promise to give it a last try and let you know if I have any luck (maybe if I plant it in early fall... not sure. But I will keep you posted). I haven't tried the chalk paint but always hear great things about it. My husband doesn't let me paint furnishings or cabinetry, which annoys me, but I love him more than painted cabinets. LOL. I'm telling you, healthcare is crazy expensive. That is the one thing the US could do better, in my opinion. Yay for heat and cucumbers, tomatoes, and such. It does make a world of a difference to have that heat sweetening those peppers and ripening my apples. Give Freddie and his big brother a snuggle from TX. My cat is mad at me right now because we left her for 5 days and she doesn't like strangers so she would hide when the petsitter would stop by. The lipstick is V Kosmetix in Bubbly... it came in one of my beauty boxes that I used to subscribe to. I took a break on subscription boxes... sometimes I feel guilty about showing "things"... I don't like people to just want to buy things for the sake of buying. It is wasteful. But then I remember that there are plenty of conciensious people like you who use KZfaq to get ideas and try to find either better deals or pre-loved clothing. So I will try to do videos with a mixture of things... a little bit of clothes, make up, hair products, home decor, gardening, maybe a recipe here and there. It slows down the growth of my channel because I am not focusing on any one area, but I enjoy trying different things all the time. Thank you, Rita, for always being here for me. Oh, also, I think I would use BT for the zucchini plants early on. You should also trim off the leaves near the blooms so the pollinators can do their job. I hope this helps.

I mumbled a lot in the video because I’m using my cell phone now and haven’t figured out what to do about the mic that doesn’t work with the phone. 😂 Me too… I want perennials. you have a ton o land, so it probably would work for you to throw seed and wait for things to grow. I really love it that you only have to buy most seeds once, because the flowers will turn into seeds for next year. I had never thought of that until I started gardening at this house. I’ve had to move a lot my entire life. This is the first time I get to see my garden mature. It makes me happy 😊

@@CatherineHopkinsDesignsLife Yes next year we are going to hope that our friend will still be plowing. He is almost eighty and works like no one we know. Then we order the flower seeds the state roads use in the mediums….beautiful wild flowers that come up for about five years. That way it is pretty and we don’t have to mow large sections of the yard. I love your flowers.

@@ritastutler1470 That's such a fantastic idea and so good for native pollinators. We have wildflowers on the way to smaller towns in the spring. Mostly bluebonnets and black eye susans. I haven't been lucky growing them here... maybe because I'd have to plant them in cultivated beds and they probably prefer the natural soil of the region. I live in a neighborhood, so not mowing is not an option.

PS we are getting close to one hundred degrees this week. We have a chance of a derecho. I pray not. We had one in 2012. It was horrible…no electric for eleven days. We were on vacation . It is overcast and about to rain, so it feels cooler than the 88 degrees that the thermometer shows, so I went out there and did a little weeding. My heart rate goes down, my breathing gets into a rhythm and my heart is full.

I don’t feel motivated to film videos when all I want to do is play in the yard. My husband got a job and so it is so weird for me. We have always worked together. I don't see much of him some days. I feel like I start on our five acres mowing and then I start all over. They finally decided to hire contractors to rebuild their home where the dams broke there and destroyed theirs. They lived in the camper and worked hard , but my brother got Covid and he does not feel the same . He likes to do everything for himself. He is younger than me, but still it is time to hire out and get back in the house. Wow,Catherine you have a way more exciting life than me. Learning to read Korean is impressive.
