One trick I’ve used back in the day when a transmission is slipping after a fluid change is to put back the old fluid. It has most if not all the clutch material that was floating in it.
@GTSam
@GTSam 2 күн бұрын
Very interesting! It makes sense since people sometimes say don't change the fluid since it does have all that stuff in it.
@MrSamPhoenix
@MrSamPhoenix 2 күн бұрын
@19:00 2003-2005 year Acura/Honda owners of the 5-speed auto have to be super careful when changing the fluid. A simple drain and fill is sufficient to make it happy. A 3x3 fluid change/fill will get rid of too much of the clutch material that’s floating in the old fluid. It’s around 2007 onwards where Honda/Acura made the 5-speed and 6-speed transmissions a LOT more durable.

Used a 3/8 ratchet with the 8mm. Get someone on top someone on bottom. Person on the bottom tap 8mm in with hammer (make sure it’s in there) and then hold it steady (push in) while person on top turns ratchet with a pipe on the end for leverage. Broke loose no problem. Dont do it the way this guy did it. You’ll round it out, can’t believe he got it off like that. Get two people. Use the extension!! 1/2 inch ratchet or breaker bar wouldn’t fit. So had to use 3/8 ratchet. Hope this helps someone.

Anyone know the part numbers for the two o-rings shown at 7:39? I think they're called a 'transmission cooler o-ring', and I've seen part numbers '25564-5LJ-A01' and '25565-5LJ-A01' thrown around, but sites that offer oem parts show them as not being compatible with my 2015 honda civic cvt so I'm really not sure

@@jamesnall569 thanks! But the 8th Gen is slightly different than the 9th. Later model has the same engine, technically, but the liter size changed slightly from 1.8 to 1.6. @@jamesnall569 good checking. But the 9th Gen has the 1.6L and it's the same engine code as the 8th gen 1.8L. So then the 1.8L on the 9th Gen is a different engine code. Odd.

This pivot bolt, was made be the mf’n Cenobites. I’m serious. It has probably under gone some kind of interfacial galvanic welding with the block and is essentially impossible for many to remove without destructive repair. @@GTSam I got it out! Looks like the trick may be to heat the back of the bolt carrier, in the block. Heating the face of the bolt is pointless as there are no threads underneath the head. If you gently heat where the bolt runs behind the water pump with a propane torch, you should eventually break the galvanic bond/corrosion between the iron bolt and the aluminum engine block. I quite literally heard the threads let out that distinctive "ping" several times as the heat transferred through the block and bolt. Penetrating oil didn't seem to make a difference because there's no real threads for it it creep along: and I use Kroil, which is wild good stuff. Clients car purrs like a car now, AC nice and strong, etc, etc.
@GTSam

@@H33t3Speaks nice work! That corrosion can be a real bugger. Heat usually is a good idea too. I've added Free All to my stock pile lately and it seems to be a better bolt buster too.
