@@JobStacking yes. I filed a w-2 out last week for my current employer. And on the w-2 it asked is this my only full time job. I had never seen that before. Hi Rolf, what is your advice for handling the mental side (mental pressure or stress) of job stacking?
@JobStacking
@JobStacking 2 ай бұрын
That's a very good question. The shortest answer is to "not care", but in an active way. Take a day off or two every now and then. Don't worry about performance so much, realize that you don't have to be "locked in" all the time. Stop working on Fridays. Enjoy some of the money you're making! I have a more in-depth video on this subject coming. But for now, the key is: Just enjoy life while you're Job Stacking.

Hello, I came across this video and would like to ask you a question about my current employment situation. Just graduated college, accepted a job offer from Company A. Background check is still ongoing; I completed the first part which is employment verification, the next step is to complete a fingerprint screen. I have that scheduled for 6/7, so technically I'm still in employment limbo with Company A because the background check is not complete. I also have just received an offer from Company B, which I plan on taking. Am about to begin the background check. Will it be a problem that I'm currently in the middle of a background check whilst I'm starting a new background check for a different company? Thanks!

@@JobStacking just curious...why would your friends be willing to take only 50% when they can just go get a job themselves?
@JobStacking

That's a very good question. So, number one: because it's not true they can't just go out and get a job on a whim, it takes time and effort. Number two: because they don't have to go to meetings or manage communications and other typical time wasters (I handle those) and I don't request 8 hours a day from them or exclusivity, they are free to go get other jobs or work whenever they want for however long they want. I basically offer them what Job Stacking would be like if it was allowed to be out in the open, if employers didn't request exclusivity and 40 hours a week. They're more than willing to take 50% for the arrangement.

I'm a blue collar worker. My labor job is the only job I have ever had. I have no other real skills. I once took a class in networking and got a certificate, haven't learned shit from it. I dabbled in a little programming, still have no idea how to program on my own without a tutorial. I would learn more but I don't have time. I need cash fast, and I need it as soon as possible. Would job stacking work for me? I still need my labor job, would I be able to keep my labor job and still be able to work remotely with another job? If it's okay to ask, what jobs would be best suited for the layman beginner such as myself?

Great stuff keep it up. But I'm pritty sure most companies would not see it like the only want your availability. You are suppose to ask for more work if run out of things to do in most companies. (ofcourse this often does not happen because most people like to chill, but it seems to be the norm) I'm trying to find out how i would explain this to my own boss when they catch me. I would simply say i was in financial problems and was able to handle both without issues and that old rules makes no sense in todays highly inflationary economy where rents are preventing me to have a proper pension and raise family which has been normal to do for 100s of years. I think that sounds legit overexplaining the world is still like romen times.
@JobStacking
@JobStacking 8 ай бұрын
Yes and no. Employers do formally and explicitly say they require our availability and that's why they pay us for the 8 hours. However they conflate availability with exclusivity so they also request exclusivity. You can see the difference between availability and exclusivity by looking at your internet service provider. You pay them so that internet is always available to you, but your payment does not mean the internet service provider services you exclusively. I don't think bosses would care about your explanations. If you get caught 99.9% chance you'll be fired. But, how to not get caught is exactly what I teach.

@@JobStacking because manual testing is way more time consuming without the option of automation...as a dev, you have more opportunities to automate your repetitive work...also there is more mystery to what you do, you can convince a manager that a task will take longer than it actually does because he doesnt understand how the work is actually done...but with manual testing, everyone knows how to manual test, so your boss can tell if you are fibbing about how long a testing task will take

What you said about how companies are paying you to be AVAILABLE more than anything is key. While you're on the clock, you're there to do the work and respond to communication/requests from coworkers and supervisors. Being paid does not necessarily mean you're going to be nose-to-the-grindstone for the entire 8 hours. And if you are, find a different job lol.
@JobStacking
@JobStacking 9 ай бұрын
That's right. But before quitting you could try making your job easier. What I've found is that most people who think their job is "too hard" or consumes too much of their time are actually too invested in the job. If they eased up, their job would become a lot easier and nothing bad would happen. So: try to make current job easier by not being too invested, then if it really doesn't let up, quit.
