I was 16 during that amazing season. So brilliant football performed by the lads. Loved to watch them on the telly, when danish tv showed them. Lots of goals and good and solid football played both away and at home. Became a fan of the Blues back in ´77 after the 6-0 game against Coventry on Goodison. Latch, King and Thomas were my favorites. Later on lots of others, Southall, Sharp and Ferguson.. Most of my life has passed now, I´m 55 and my heart still belongs to Everton FC.

The impact of the ban on English player's development was massive...Gary Stevens, was possibly the best right back in 1985 in the country, the exclusion from Europe hit his development very noticeably..

Ian Crook is my hero. Bobby Robson is a God. John Wark could do one if he wasn't such a nice bloke. (One of the only Ipswich players I wouldn't mind a pint with) David Marshall is forgiven...nearly Til next time...enjoy VAR Yellows!

Looking good Bob! I remember it well…… I remember when you played for us (the toffees) every corner we won was as good as a goal-you were there to nod the ball into the back of the net! Thank you for the memories xxxx

We were beating Man u and Arsenal by 5 and 6 in that season. Its hard to emphasize exactly how formidable we were really.. .An air of invincibilty EVERY game at one point. Linekar was great for us, but while other teams were still nervous of being embarrassed, i think it was REAL fear when Andy grey was with us. Defenders were bloody terrified of him. 💯🙏.. ALL of them, fantastic players.

This story is close to home as my dad was also an ill man who befriended Brooks. My dad and I (being a little boy) would follow Gretna up and down Scotland through their promotions. Unfortunately my dad died within months of Brooks and the memories will only ever be beautiful ones for me. As a boy I got to whiteness one of the best stories in football and the back end stuff hets forgotten. Gavin, Rowan, Kenny, James. You men were hero’s to me as young lad and I thank you for everything you gave to Gretna.

Met Bob at a sports shop he owned in Formby, back in the day. I was just a kid but he was super nice. Sadly the autograph he gave me has long been lost but like the other post mentioned, I remember him getting to that magic 30 goals tally.. COYB

Back in the seventies, the Mormans knocked on my mums door, stupidly I answered it, after a few minutes I dragged them up to my bedroom and showed them the post of Bob Latchford on my wall and told them this is my God, I then tried to convert them into Everton supporters 🙂 They couldn't get out of the house quick enough and strangley enough they never called again 🙂

What a brilliant centre forward in his day, I seem to remember nobody had scored 30 goals in the league for years before Bob done it, hard as nails as well.

Regular at Goodison from early 60s and saw Bob in his first full season there, 1974-75. Signed by Billy Bingham in Feb 1974 he led the blues to the top of the league in April 75 only to lose to lowly Carlisle, and 3-2 at home to Sheffield United after leading 2-0 at half time. Which cost them the title That side was well served by Martin Dobson, Dave Clements, Gary Jones, Mike Lyons and Roger Kenyon. I saw the blues get great results at Derby then a great side, Spurs, Leeds and Man City all top teams If they had won three more games the title was theirs instead Liverpool came through to start their domination. Bob and Gordon Lee's sides played also played well in the league and FA cup 77, 80. and 81. What would todays team be like if they had Bob in an around the opposition penalty area ? He did after all: Walk on Water !

This is a time i was growing up and loved Liverpool FC i was and still am a KOP season ticket holder and my aunt and uncle were staunch Everton fans i loved Liverpool because of my dad and granddad but i was playing at that time and had offers from Derby County and West Brom but in them days when i went to Anfield I just knew Liverpool would win, many people would hate me for this but at sometimes Liverpool would play boring football but this is why they were so amazing but my aunt said come and whatch Everton i did, they played fantastic football very aggressively and in your face and i totally loved it this was me as a 16 year old they should have won the European cup but that’s history and Maggi the bitch put paid to that and I totally condone what happened. Anyway Everton were a fantastic club and Howard Kendle was and always will be the best manager ever of Everton
