I think that some "makes you look older" makeup looks, do have to do with dragging your face down, but i also think that some "makes you look older" comments are because those techniques of makeup are dated decades ago and "it makes you old" because you are not wearing makeup the same way everyone is wearing it nowadays. Because an old person will look old no matter how they wear makeup, and a younger person will look young no matter how they do their makeup.

This was surprisingly inspiring, I don't usually follow makeup trends, but this encouraged me to walk even further away from them and try out both the boyfriend blush and the puppy eyeliner (which are both not recommended for my features). Rebelling against Instagram face has never looked so cute, you look so pretty ❤

“Jelly” type products seem to be the latest gimmick. You can get jelly eye shadows, cheek stain, cleanser, and I am sure there is some kind of jelly foundation I’ve never heard of. I know there are people who DO love the Milk Makeup cooling gel blush, but I can’t see just standing by with a brush having to blend right away OR ELSE! I’ll just stick to my boring old creams and powders. I wish Milk would bring back its lip and cheek oils in the roller balls. Those actually were versatile, easy to apply, looked good, and were very convenient to throw into a makeup bag for travel or work. The Rare Beauty too-shimmery blushes - I think sometimes the people behind these products forget that most of us are not going to be wearing them on camera. We’re going to wear them to our desk jobs or out with friends, not on TikTok. There’s a balance to be made between “this makes me look good on camera for my TikTok audience” and the vast majority of people who are going to be wearing it as an everyday product. I am glad to find out about the return of the Cover Girl Outlast lip stains! I loved those, and the Revlon “Just Bitten” ones, to layer under my lipstick so if/when my lipstick rubbed/wore off I’d still have color. LOVED them as lip bases. Hooray for their resurrection! And the gimmicks…so many of these companies are trying to out-gimmick one another, I guess to be able to hold the attention of audiences who always want something shiny and new, even if it doesn’t work for many people (like the jelly tint!). I’m sure that’s part of the reason we see newer brands come and go so much, while old stalwarts like Lancôme and Clinique soldier on; these are not social media brands, and the middle-aged and up people who buy from them are not really looking for the newest, shiniest, weird and wonderful thing.

I’ve always just followed the shape of my face. One eyebrow is sharper and higher and that’s okay. I think fighting my natural structure to hide imperfections only make them more noticeable. I also never got into the dark eyeliner or cat eye. My features are softer and fairer and it never suited me. Nowadays I don’t even use eyeliner just curl my lashes and one layer of brown mascara. I don’t even use eyeshadow just a bit of bronzer or blush in the crease. It’s fun to play with makeup and beauty trends, but I think it’s best when people test what works best for their face and emphasize what makes them look best! ❤

Elf putty brush + milk jelly pop blush is a dream. You have to work hard and fast but the look is so natural so sunkissed so summery. If you underpaint with them and use a powder blush on top they last all day

Yes! Luxury does exist! It's called La Prairie Skin Caviar Foundation with Concealer. It doesn't get any better than that. There is no dupe, believe me, I've checked. I've worn it for approx 15 yrs & holy hell, it is EXPENSIVE! And it's worth every penny. The experience of shopping that line is great, also. Completely personalized, full service! I've used their skin care products (skin is older and now too sensitive), so I use L.P. foundation, blush, lipstick & oh my God, their foaming cleanser. I'm an Aesthetician. I really know skin. I really know lots of skincare lines.

God bless editorial and alternative makeup. There’s nothing wrong with people who like mainstream makeup trends, but after a while, you get sick of it. Everyone either has the IG baddie face or the ‘clean girl’ look. It’s repetitive.

The Patrick Ta highlighter is so bad... Seeing all these influencers raving about it on Tiktok just goes to show you how much people will simp over brands. A greasy mess and the powders give absolutely nothing.

Fenty Eaze Drops looked terrible on me, settled into lines and pores I didn’t even see before I put it on. Plus it kind of separated on pores, a lighter color sitting in the pore. So I’m scared to try the new Fenty foundation… but I kind of want to!
