Это очень крутая находка режиссера: герой едет в тепле, да ещё и под Великую Донну Саммер, которая хочет погорячее штучку ! )))

The great twist of song choice with a scene involving a radioactive power source had me in tears for a good ten minutes. This might just be the most hilarious scene in the movie.

They really overplay the danger of a radiothermal generator. Those things are stable, reliable, and pretty darn close to perfectly safe. Yeah you don't want to crack one open, but that tends to be seriously hard to do. People get way too freaked out over something being radioactive; it's a known danger with simple solutions. I blame hollywood.
@vksasdgaming9472 Жыл бұрын
Ironically they generate heat because those substances inside are unstable. Of course that decay happens in regular pace so that makes it reliable and predictable. I think radioactive = dangerous must be result of radioactive substances usually being chemically toxic in addition to radiation they emit.

I re-watched this the other day, and i also play a game called Kerbal Space Program. In the game, there is a radioisotope thermoelectric generator, and the description in it says; "Through exploitation of the natural decay of Blutonium-238, this elegantly simple power generator can provide consistent, stable power for decades. Not to be used for providing heating during emergency rover excursions." The last part cracked me up having just seen the movie again 😂

It says, at first, that the inside of that vehicle was 42.67 Celsius which is 108.806 Fahrenheit. It quickly rises up to 43.12 Celsius which is 109.616 Fahrenheit. Either way, Mark should not be doing well with it being that hot. It is commonly held that the maximum temperature at which humans can survive is 108.14-degree Fahrenheit or 42.3-degree Celsius. A higher temperature may denature proteins and cause irreparable damage to brain. When me and my chemistry class watched this movie back in my junior year in high school, my teacher paused the movie and asked one of us to look up what the temperature is in Fahrenheit. When I said I hot it was when I did the calculation on my iPad, my teacher flipped out and went "WHAT?!" The fact that the temperature just kept going up in that vehicle, Mark should've been dead.

Humans have very efficient evaporative cooling system. It is called sweating. Humans can without ill effect survive exposures to way higher temperatures. Sauna is invention made to cause such temperatures.

Actually if he some how managed to break the rtg and expose the fuel he'd be fine, Plutonium-238 is an alpha emitter and can't even penetrate skin, you could literally hold it (although wouldn't recommended it without gloves) without hardly any issues apart from being very warm, the only danger is if it gets some how powderised and goes airborne (breathing particles in) which unless he wanted to do that would seem unlikely. But for the most part, he wouldn't be affected in the slightest.
@vksasdgaming9472 Жыл бұрын
Of course inhaling alpha emitting dust is bad even before learning about toxicity of plutonium.
