Great job raising your bottle baby. Sometimes mom and a kitten don't bond, especially a weak kitten. This cat thinks you are his mom. That makes him a people in his mind. You are blessed to have such a bond. God bless.

Looks like fever coat. I took on a pregnant bengal and one of the babies looked like this. After some time his real colour came back and looked just like the rest of the litter.

Cats aren't like humans. It's not the color it's because it's the runt of the litter. It won't try to wrestle in among the others because it's weaker. If you keep doing the part of forcing it's body to work & feed it extra milk & place it on a nipple after they are settled. It will survive. But, In the natural world cats think that the weaker one won't make it, so they "detach " from the littlest & let it go. "Survival of the fittest" & all that

A different coloured kitten may have had a different father, though it's from the same litter. Cats can do that. Cats are essentially colour-blind, though.

it's got nothing to do with the colour of the cat. This kitten was not strong enough to feed, so his mother abandoned it. that's nature. It's great that we can step in to help nature sometimes though, and I'm glad kitty is okay now <3

I had any cats and they were generally eighteen or nineteen years old when they passed on. Through all the litters of kittens we had we didn’t ever have even one kitten. Rejected. There many colors of kittens through the years ,long hair and short hair. I think that’s ridicules that a momma cat would not care for her kittens except if it was born without vital parts. A family member told me that because they had barnyard cats. So I didn’t ever have a cat cast off her kitten but I think someone needs to check with a vet for the true story.

The kitten was smaller so was probably the runt of the litter, this is a common thing but you have to encourage the kitten and help it attach to mum, you can give it extra kitten milk which you can get from a vet or pet shop to help it but mums milk is very important.
