There was a good point made about slop in the gears. Don't rock the prop back and forth. Pull it far enough back to take out all the slack. I still don't understand why you have to time the engine off the number one piston. Yes, if you're replacing a magneto, you must do that. However, every cylinder has to fire at 25 degrees before top dead center. Not just the number one.

I think these wires are very thin and useless, any hard steel type washer cover is better to prevent it. 😊

why isn't Nordlock or similiar things used instead, which what I know, is safer than safety wire right?

This is SUCH a well done video, EXCEPT for the low video quality. I wish you'd consider re-doing this at better resolution. VERY VERY well explained. I'm not AP, just autos, outboards, small engines, made my own tester, modified Horrid Freight which turns out not to use standard orifice or pressures. Found a .040 jet which I used instead and some refrigeration gauges.

I'm an A&P and I want to share a great piece of advice on safety wire that was never taught to me in school. Always buy safety wire in a spool, never in a can. Figure out how much you need, then take the safety wire pliers and grab the end of the wire and use your other hand to hold the spool with the wire coming through your fingers. Then snap the wire between the pliers and spool, then cut the wire at the spool. This will create a straight piece of wire that has been stress relieved and is easy to work with and the wire will not unravel around the spool because the wire is inside the spool with just an end sticking out. .... I hope I described this well enough to be understood, leave a reply if you have any questions.

In case you just arrived on this planet, when you order Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, the sauce does not actually contain lobster as an ingredient: The sauce is just the kind of sauce one would put on lobster. It often contains fermented soybeans.

At 2:45 its best to put the wire into the bolt that is coming OVER the twist, meaning the one that if you pull in that direction (towards the bolt) it will tighten the twist. Also, it's best to not have any untwisted wire between the twisted and bolt hole, you've got an 1/8 - 3/16" or so of untwisted wire, that's not good because it leaves only one wire to hold the load not the twist. But other than that, good video. Thanks.

Almost never used anything but .32 thousandths. Funny thing with saftey wire is that you can scrutinize pretty much anyone's work, very subjective. Practice and learning the tricks of the trade help
@mpgofast
@mpgofast 5 ай бұрын
The saftey wire needs to cover 70 to 80 per cent of the diameter of the bolt hole, that's the choice about .032 or .041 wire and the 7 turns per inch, I have seen alot of unairworthy saftey wire on propellers

That mag. impulse click isn't reliable. Like on my engine it has Bendix shower of sparks mags. There is no click. I use a bamboo stick in the spark plug hole to determine when it's close to TDC. Then put the connector in the spark plug hole and shoot the air to it.

Back when I was an electrician on the last USMC Squadrons of the UH-34s we safety wired way different, . Here’s what aircraft use today. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bb6Tnpdl3b_JkXk.html. On the 6 bolt pattern in your case, you start with 1 bolt (if it loosens, it tightens the next. Then there’s a measurement (I’ve forgotten) where you loop in the 1 wire of the last and start on the next. But the principal of “if it loosens 1, it tightens the next”👍. Great videos👍

I think you did the first one poorly. Should have moved over to the next hole. Notice the wire is not able to exert any torque on the bolt head. The other ones you did before the video do. I think its a "do over". And extra sloppy as it is made to instruct others......
