I thought this model has a Richlite fretboard...not sure the oil has any impact as it is not permeable. But great job overall!

Great video! Can you tell me about Fishman's orange and green wires named "boost"? Do they work or not? Do I need to solder them together under rubber or are they useless? I dont remember how it was in stock. I remember only that they was under rubber

Ever thought about doing an online training course, that people can pay for? Would be great! Just like different tiers, Beginner, Intermediate, professional. One for home musicians who just want to be able to re-string properly and safely and set up their guitars for their own playing then the other two tiers for more experienced techs, or people who want to start from the ground up.

Do you think you could do a video about how to know how to adjust a truss rod? I’m always worried about it simply cause I have no idea how to “read” the neck.

Hi Dean I’m currently studying at a music college in Brighton and my dream is to be a guitar tech with a touring band, do you have any tips on how to get into this job?
@deanrowbothamguitars
@deanrowbothamguitars 9 ай бұрын
Hi Frankie! As a starting point I’d look to invest in a decent guitar tech tool kit, a good soldering iron and an old guitar that needs to some love. Maybe ask your friends / family if they have a guitar that you could work on. It’s all about practicing but there’s so many videos out there to help these days, a lot more than when I started. I’d recommend the Dan Erlewine books from Stew Mac, that’s how I got started. Let me know how you get on, it’s all about practice and getting as much experience as you can. If you have any friends in bands, offer to go with them for free and start getting some experience :)

Never understand this wild 80 string. It will be sound unbalanced on power chords. For this tuning and that inch scale perfect will be 11-56 or 12-60 for higher tension. But clients desires it’s their desires.
@deanrowbothamguitars
@deanrowbothamguitars 9 ай бұрын
What sounds unbalanced to you may sound great to someone else, it’s not about achieving perfection. It’s about setting up a guitar to play how the individual wants it. For example, Lee in Bring Me The Horizon has developed a very unique sound by incorporating several different things into his signal chain, one of which is an 80 gauge string for his C standard, Drop A# and Drop G tunings. And I think we can all agree it sounds incredible!
@A-deebeedee
@A-deebeedee 9 ай бұрын
@@deanrowbothamguitars This is exactly what I wrote. The individual client wants it and he gets it. Yeah, I've known for a long time that Lee uses 80 even for 6th C string. And even if it sounds massive on power chords, he often plays on just one string, like in the chorus of Shadow Moses. And I like it, and started to play choruses on just one string too.

awesome video dean. With the hipshot fixed bridges, the grub screws that adjust the saddle height always seem to dig into the base plate and scratch the coating. Once you remove the bit of paper that come with the hipshot bridges, how do you try to reduce or stop any damage in the future if you need to make any adjustments? Thanks in advance
@deanrowbothamguitars
@deanrowbothamguitars 9 ай бұрын
Hi Kevin! Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it. In short, there’s not anything you can do about that I’m afraid. To be honest having a small indentation under screw can be handy sometimes if you’re removing the saddles to clean them and the re-installing, gives you a good point of reference. Be interested to see if anyone has any ideas though…

Hahahaha love this man, thank you so much for the work you did on the guitar, it plays impeccably, the way I’ve always seen it is that often overengineered guitars lack the mojo of something more old school but something about how a strandberg resonates and feels, it just rips in the same way that a strat would! Nothing on the guitar is necessary but just really nice to have, makes life that bit easier when you play as much as I do! I am a fruitcake indeed, it’s part of my charm 😂
