one question of many, after you are going to sleep the probability to have an emergency is down to 0? the solution to all of your problems is a camper :)

Great content, great video. As a lifelong Mainer I can say you captured the state wonderfully. Two suggestions for your next trip (we always come back up here)… - buy a Maine Atlas and Gazetteer…. It is a wonderful resource… - check out the area of the ghost trains near Eagle and chamberlain lakes. I highly recommend the campground at the Caucomgomoc Dam - it’s intensely primitive, a trip to get to and incredibly scenic. Subscribed.

I have a question for you. Say someone got a free pickup topper that already had a rack on it. Say that rack came off and this was mounted and sealed directly to said pickup topper. Cut the flooring out of part of both the topper and the tent so you can stand up in your pickup bed, change, make meals etc. The bed, when needed, can fold down but offers a seating area up front when not sleeping. But instead of paying many thousands of $$$ more for a pop up topper, you make your own for around $2k. All theoretical but you owning this, could it work?

I never got the pt of a rooftop tent, other than they are cool, since every animal worth fearing can either knock the vehicle over or climb up there.

comparing jeep to fj, for it to be fair, it has to be the same year of both, and with a 4 door wrangler. i own a 2013 fj, and i owned a 2013 4 door wrangler. the wrangler did not come with diff lock or a A trac type system, and it still held its own off roading. the jeeps 3.6 v6 motor is just as good as the fj's motor.... i swapped to an fj because i drive 300 mile trips often and the fj is slightly more comfortable on longer trips, and i like the shorter wheel base. The jeeps roof and doors are made to come off so of course the cabin comfort is compromised. Also toyotas reliability reputation slightly nudges out the jeeps pedigree reputation. I never had an issue with my jeep in the 3 years i owned it.

Can’t love this video enough! I’m also in PA and am currently building a 2004 Forester overland vehicle. This video is so on point with all my reasons for building it! It’s like I was watching myself! I’ll definitely be following along on your adventures.

For any vehicle the recommended mirror adjustments are rear view should show the whole window while in normal seated position. Lean to the right until you head iis in line with the center of your vehicle and adjust the right side mirror so it barely shows the right side of your vehicle. For the left side mirror lean to the left till your head touches the silent side window and adjust the left side mirror so you barely see the left side of your vehicle. There a video that shows this and explains why.

We have TentBox Lite 2.0 ❤ It takes less than 4 minutes to deploy or pack. What’s the problem? (Loved the video, you’re absolutely right to highlight these points but they all have, arguably a counter upside to the argument too).

After having the tradition clam shell roof top tent and now a hard shell roof top.. id never go back to swags or a ground tent. However the hard shell is quick n easier than the old bulky canvas clam shell. Pouring rain - animals raiding the camp sites, i love being above it all

What road did you have to turn around on going to baker lake? video looks like you entered at Telos checkpoint, north on Telos Rd to Umbazooksus.. then did you try Pingree rd to Round pond? I do a lot of trips into the NMW.. and yeah theres been trips where most I saw were birds... and maybe traces of animal life... to some trips I saw multiple deer, moose, and rabbits... its kinda hit or miss.. but have had better luck the further north we have been. fuel consumption is a main concern.. I carry about 11-12 gallons of spare fuel, and alwasy top off my fuel before leaving Greenville, or wherever it is we enter the NMW.. If you guys ever want to see some Awesome campsites just let me know. I live in the midcoast and try to escape to the woods when I'm not working OT. I have a built up 2016 Tacoma TRD Offroad w/ rack, rtt, and all the gear including sat coms.

I drive around first and have my fun with my truck before I set up camp…… once I set up camp it’s to eat, relax, and sleep….. that’s why I get the quick cam shell type of tent…. I don’t need a fancy one that opens up at the side and has extra room. I don’t need all that……. 2 each their own.

Im getting a rooftop because: I never stay 2 nights in the same spot. Tents, blowups, pillows, sheets, take up 1/3 of my storage space inside my jeep.. you can keep all of that inside a harshell. I’m getting a tent that takes less than 5 min to setup.. that’s the only kind I’m interested in

Yeah. The fact that you're grounded at camp unless you pack your RTT up first is the main reason I'm still trying to convince myself to buy one. You hit the nail on the head when you said "in an emergency".
@greeenjeeens
@greeenjeeens 26 күн бұрын
We used these a lot in SA, and it's nice when bush camping because of animals, but in almost all other cases they're crap. They're heavy, draggy, obvious, and if you stay in a spot for more than one day, you have to pack it up every time.
