Youre right, thats a great day of fishing. Used to be ontario tribs were better, now in recent years erie tribs are better. Good luck in the future.

Walk the line out till its almost out, then run your hand down it until the twists are out. That should help the backlash and rats nest.

At least you got some to hit. Low clear water is very difficult. If all those fish were made in there in green water you wouldve had fish on all day. Good luck in the future.

Bro you need a chest rig for your GoPro. That head movement was nauseating!😵💫🥴😂
@PAWildlife2 ай бұрын
I don't like the chest rig lol - hides too much of the action when people's arms get in the way. Just my opinion. But yes I tend to look around a lot. I'm an police officer so I feel like I'm always watching my surroundings. I'll work on that.

High my name is Brad. I been watching your videos for the past couple of days and wondered if you would be willing to give me some tips on where to go and what bait to use. I'm bring my family up to Erie on Saturday the 23 for the first time and its a 3hr drive and wanted my kids to catch some fish and have a good experience with it.

I mainly hit elk creek. The creek is still holding fish throughout. Jigs white in color will work. A lot of guys are catching them on various patterns. Good luck and enjoy.

There is a good mix of fresh run and colored up fish in these holes. We have had nice runs with every rise in the water after rain or snow melt off.

Yes sir, she's a hog. Best slab I ever got steelhead wise was out of ontario trib, 39 incher, just over 18 lbs. Back in late 90's. Fish are getting smaller and fewer there. Good luck in the future.

Ive got a tough time netting fish by myself. What gloves are those? Recently got a brother-in-law and found out his family had some land on a private branch of our home river and even though its tiny and just has one good run, its a good 30 yards and its been heaven not competing with half of Ohio, Pa and New York for over prrssured spots and fish. I screwed around fot years and my dad and i kinda grew apart and stopped fishing. We got back into it last winter with me getting clean the summer before and its been incredible fishing for them again...even though one of us is always outfishing the other 10 to 1... literally. And the last time we managed to get our first double despite him being the guy getting 1 😂. But back when I was young and Ohio wasnt a desert and we had to look for clear enough water (instead of the opposite now) we would occasionally go to elk creek. Especially when i was on spring break. Before they built a parkinf lot by that green bridge we would go and have a blast. My arm would be sore for days. I was raised by my grandfather and grandmother, and losing them killed me. Especially my grandfather. Its helped me realize how lucky i was and am to still have a dad in their early 50s when im only 34. Im glad you got a fish on this day of days. Sorry for the autobiography, ill give ya a sub. Edit: i just saw your dad was a year older than my grandfather and was just wondering if he remembered/knew of the lake erie blue pike. My gramps didnt, but his dad absolutely loved to eat fish and according to my pops he would always talk about the blue pike, thus making me curious of anyone still around or related to someone that experienced catching and or eating them. Especially with the mystery of how they went from record numbers to extinct in literally in just a few years in the early-mid 50s...could be pollution or over fishing, as both had been a problem for years and years prior. Perhaps the introduction of smelt, who showed up around that time and could have eaten all the fry
@PAWildlife3 ай бұрын
The gloves are from fish monkey. I never really used gloves before. I tried them and I love them. I do remember my dad talking about the blue pike all the time! I never did see any in my time. We used to catch salmon one after the other here though. It Was a great time of my life. Thank you for the comment and support.

Nice fish but take the gloves off not good for em .
@PAWildlife3 ай бұрын
Thank you - rubberized gloves, or latex, are commonly used to protect the mucus membrane on the fish. I find them to best handle the fish when needed to prevent injury. Obviously less handling is always best as bare hands will also remove the membrane.

I've never seen anyone catch Steelhead back to back like this. I don't know where you are fishing but Man there must be loads of-em in there. Where I come from Southern Oregon on the Rogue River, the Applegate River Illinois River and many other's man people can fish the hole season and not catch one.

We are very blessed here. I am only 20 minutes down the road from Elk Creek here in Erie PA. We had a heavy rain and the water levels were up a bit, so the we get fresh run of steelhead. Some holes probably hold over 60 fish. The water is best when it is high enough with a slight green stain to it. The fish get turned on quick. We can easily catch 20 plus a day. Everyone around here catches and releases, which helps too.
