Hi. Great video. Thank you. Im trying to identify my cables on the back plug but more than 1 has voltage, i have a volvo v40 and plugs look very similar to yours. Would the indicator fluctuate with voltage? Thabk you
@EverydayWorkshop
@EverydayWorkshop 4 күн бұрын
Hi Stephen, if you mean the low voltage CANbus cables on you car then yes the indicators would fluctuate with the flashing sequence. You would then have individual low voltage supply to the side, stop and fog lights. You need to identify each individual supply before connecting to the correct bypass relay cable. You only need to connect to one side tail light supply except the indicator of course and possibly the fog light, which you would run cables across from the opposite side. Hope this helps. 👍🙂

I see that the front axe of the car is on a ramp. Does it make sense if the car is not level while changing the oil?
@EverydayWorkshop
@EverydayWorkshop 6 күн бұрын
Hi Christian, you make a very good point. Actually in this instance the car not being level is an advantage, because the sump drain plug is at the rear of the sump, it allows better draining of the oil, of course if it was at the front some old oil would remain and that wouldn’t be good. Of course once filled with new oil the final level check and top up was on level ground. I hope you found the video useful and thanks for watching. 🙂👍

Thanks for your comment but the new filter is definitely installed in the correct orientation. If have look at the 2:00 and 2:10 marks and pause the video you will see the car symbol and airflow direction arrow on the old filter and the direction arrows on the new filter. Which is the orientation I installed it. So as long as you install your filter in the way it will be fine. Hope you found the video useful and thanks for watching. 🙂👍

I like the idea of leaving open sections to reduce weight plus bonus place to hold tools! I must say that putting it together with bolts is crazy overkill. There's no need to ever take it apart so I would glue the pieces together instead. The aluminum sheet metal is also useless. Maybe it will stop the wheels if you go too far but I would rather have a thick piece of Aluminum (or better yet, steel) bolted to the front for a stop. for a For non-slip surface, paint the tops with oil based paint and sprinkle sand on it as it dries.
@EverydayWorkshop
@EverydayWorkshop 23 күн бұрын
They do save some weight and give them a certain look which I like. I know the bolts are maybe a bit of overkill, but it is extremely solid and will never go anywhere 😁 and part of the idea was to make an interesting video. Hopefully I succeeded in that regard. Not sure what you mean about the aluminium checker plate it definitely isn’t useless 🙂. I know you might think it isn’t strong enough as a stop, but honestly that is not the case. Once bent the plate becomes very strong, any vehicle would only roll over it and not flatten it. The non slip adhesive tape I used also works extremely well and makes a neater more professional look imo. Hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching. 👍🙂

This is honestly not the best fix. 1. The P3 Volvos are known to have a problem with the windshield adhesive failing. This is a safety issue that likely requires total windshield replacement. 2. The sunroof drains get clogged and need to be unclogged with compressed air. 3. Silicone will probably cause the car to rust. 4. It is easy to remove the flooring in the front then let it dry out. 5. It is most likely the water is leaking through the top of the windshield and/or overflowing in the sunroof and not through the side areas of the windshield.
@EverydayWorkshop
@EverydayWorkshop 24 күн бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comprehensive comment 🙂. You are absolutely correct the best way is to have the screen re bonded and like you say this is a known problem with the known root cause being a manufacturing line issue, maybe a design issue too. It’s actually nothing to do with the sunroof although they do cause many water ingress issues. On this car and many of these models it is the top of the windshield that leaks. Water will always find it’s easiest route and if the drains are blocked then it will find its way through the faulty windscreen bond. So it is an easy but as stated in the video and the description it is only a temporary fix. But if the water easily drains away it “will” solve or remove most of the issue. As for the silicon I didn’t think the screen was really leaking at the side and really it was unnecessary, but while it was apart 🙂. I wouldn’t worry about corrosion. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed it. I’m chuffed it’s helped a lot of Volvo owners. 👍🙂

@terabytetechnews8026 20 күн бұрын
@@EverydayWorkshop Thank you for the reply 🙏. Totally 💯. I would also like to note that in my case at least the sunroof drain clog and windshield bond were unrelated. I ended up taking off the headliner to diagnose where the leak was coming from and found the water was overflowing in the sunroof then leaking into the headliner. The water was channeled by the headliner through the A pillar headliner then into the floor.

@EverydayWorkshop
@EverydayWorkshop 28 күн бұрын
If your engine is making a noise there is certainly an issue. Firstly is the oil level on the maximum. When you start the engine does the oil light go out. I would check something isn’t catching around the pulley area. If you are in doubt that the engine has oil pressure I wouldn’t run the engine anymore and get a mechanic to investigate. Hope you get the issue sorted.

That’s great I’m really pleased I’ve helped, thank you. That is why you shouldn’t go to a main dealer unless you have to. Going to a reputable independent garage you get a much better job done, they have much more to loose. Whereas a dealer can repeatedly do a very poor job or rip people off and people will still go back to them be they are the “main dealer”. Like in your case they have obviously lied to you. 👍🙂

Should I maintain with a constant power supply the car when I change the battery? Mean - have additional battery connected to +/- during the manipulation when the car does not have close circuit? Does it might affect the car computer (power cutoff)? I have Volvo cc 60 diesel from 2014. Thank in advance
@EverydayWorkshop
@EverydayWorkshop Ай бұрын
Hi, no you won't lose any settings so no need to keep a power supply. On your vehicle the battery monitoring system will probably need resetting so the system will charge at the correct rate for a new battery. Not urgent you can do it later. Either a dealer or anyone with the correct scanner reset tool. Hope this helps you. 👍🙂

@EverydayWorkshop

Hi, unfortunately it could be many things. Having a diagnostic tool scan would possibly point you in the right direction. Having said that it may possibly be the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve sticking due to carbon build up, which can be cleaned to rectify the issue. Something to investigate, I hope this helps and you get your issue sorted out. 👍🙂

Managed to open the bonnet having watched your vid, found a friendly campervan owner with some WD in his kit and we were sorted. Amazing how seized up these things can get, and incredible how a good blast with WD40 and some attention can sort it out. Bonnet pops like new now. Phew!

Can you please make one for the whole car? Here are the ideas? 1. Split sections that can be joined together to make a long one. The sloping ramps at the end are detachable. 2. Option to remove the Ramp section under wheels while supporting that part of the car by a jack stand placed between pinch welds and on top of the other section of the Ramp 3. Top piece, the driveable section, of the long ramp can be removed to make it light for storage. 4. Height is the ramp to be around 15 inches. 5. Ramp has a large openings to slide under the car from the side of the ramp. 6. Supporting blocks under the ramp can be placed anywhere along the length of the ramp to make it easier to take the tires off and do suspension work, etc.

Thank you. I definitely think you should able to make something to do the job. Hard to use a drill with rectangular section, but it would clean some of it. Maybe a long length of round bar attaching your wire brush to the bar. One of the round flappy drill attachments welded to the bar may work used with a drill but it wouldn’t get into the corners. How about a chemical rust remover, blocking up one end of the tube. 👍🙂
