If it's comfortable enough, the boat isn't too small, and you can Grin due to all the Money you are Saving on Berths, haulouts, and Maintenance Costs. I'm Naturalised Cardi, and proud of it, and there's nothing more we like even better than Saving Money ourselves, it's seeing other People Saving Money. Frankly, I'm a bit gutted at needing a bigger bost than the Sub 50 foot LOA Bosts I've always had, so Sailing expenses have been really reasonable, especially with the Bilge Keel Boats I've had- wait for the tide to go out, get off the bost and do a full inspection and service on a nice day, then I've even been able to put in a solid mooring on a local Estuary for a free of Charge Mooring, so Sailing costs have been very low in gorgeous scenery. Scrub the Hull ? wait for the tide to go out. Antifoul the Hull ? zwait for the Tide to go out.,Work done ? climb back aboard and put the kettle on. Bliss. Best . Bob. 😄🌟🌟🌟

Loved seeing the Doggies and you both enjoying the cool air and the dehumidifier, those stand alone units are really great aren't they ? Also it was worth getting that new Pymp, as your old pump definitely needs more than a basic Aservice kit offers by the look of it, a full refurbishment with new bearings and likely bearing shafts as well, if available, or sorted in a machine shop should give you a worthwhile Spare Unit with luck. Still, with a new unit, not exactly a mad panic to get that done now, and the Caribbean does seem to have a good number of competent machine shops around, which other Cruisers should be able to recommend ? Best Wishes and Keep Safe. Bob in Wales. 🤔🌟🌟🌟👍❤️

Guys the reason you have developed smelly water lines is because I suspect you have a water filter in line after the tank which removes all chlorine and if you are using a watermaker then there is no chlorine in the water anyway so bacteria and algae will grow in unused lines. Good idea re bleach. Perhaps every few months? Cheers.

We live in Florda and we even had a/c installed on our 25 ft Bayliner, unfortunately we needed to stay at a marina overnight but it certainly made it comfortable for the night.

Hi Fuys (and hugs and cuddles to the dogs ) Found a site on KZfaq Channel with great insights, and this videomis how best to parallel connect batteries in parallel, which also balances shared charging and Discharging which greatly reduces battery stresses if you use Uuse Bars and equalised cable lengths to yhose Bus Bars : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbSPmbd9xJbWj2w.htmlfeature=shared

PS. if you look after the batteries properly and use this Bus Bar Balanced connection system you should greatly increase Battery Service like greatly aided by never deep Discharging the batteries, and gently keeping them returned to a Fully charged state as fast as possible for Lead Batteries, and up to possibly 80% for Lithium, as life extension for Lithium fit Mobile phone charging routines may also apply to Lifepo4 batteries as well, which must never be discharged below 50% Capacity as well, as doing so reduces the Recharge Cycles, according to Chinese Lifepo4 Battery Manufacturers, so 20% of Charge Capacity for Lead, and 30% effective for Lifepo4 looks to be fairly certain. Though I will test to see if Charging to 100% with Lifepo4 Bawries in a Bank, and Discharging to 50% Capacity has any serious effects on long yerm Service Life once I can get my next Sailboat, as the Lifepo4 Housebank 2, is going to be dedicated to Keeping AGM Housebank 1 in tip Top Maximum Service Life Comdition. I'm looking at using 4 x 100 ah 12v Siekon Cheapies for Bank 2, and regularly pulling 200 amps per session out of the Bank prior to fully Recharging, so bad effects, if any, should show up fairly fast. Best Wishes. Bob. 🤔🌟🌟🌟👍❤️

Since there is not much space on a sailboat I wonder if you could but a thin flexible or standard panel under the existing panel? Bifacial down side is they are bigger so per SQ FT they are not much advantage. Im sure the sun reflect off the water and any free power would be a bonus. Wonder if anyone has tried this or tested the idea?

Hi Guys. Congrats on the new waterpump..To give new life to plastic hoses, and perhaps other things like impellers. Brush Fishing Fly line conditioner .onto them, and for pipes, internally as well. It's a plasticer, and the plasticiciser they contain when new leeches out, drying the plastic and making it vulnerable to cracking, and therefore leaking - I have used a lot of it on Flylines, had it greatly extended the line service life, but haven't had a chance to Test it on boat stuff yet, but it should work, and be worthwhile trying Great tip on Yesting thermostats below, plus worth getting a backup bit of pipework as someone suggested. A very interesting weather forecast from Mr Weatherman right now about a weeks warning of a possible hurricane incoming, with that high pressure atea moving off towards the Azores - Any Thoughts ? Best Wishes. Bob in Walesstill.🤔🌟🌟🌟👍❤️ eta fixed various typos.

Quick way to test a thermostat is to get a pan with boiling water. Use some pliers to lower the thermostat in the bouling water. SEE if it opens or not. If not it's broken. Use the pliers tobpull it out of the hot water. Then douche it with cold water. SEE if it closes or not. If not it's broken.

Those prices aren’t that much higher than I’m paying here at the grocery store! Check out your cereal for those engineered ingredients, nearly all the name brand cereals will be made with them, mostly the ones with “Corn”. It just grosses me out the things that our “Government” has allowed to happen to our Food Supply and the things they’ve done to them. I think if they’re labeled “Organic” you can assume they aren’t in there, but….I’ve also noticed this administration doesn’t give much thought to Safety, when there’s any Money to be made. And it’s much easier & simpler to just “change the definition” of something & label it as “safe & effective”…. I started paying attention to “labeling” when I found out about all the things that contained “sugar” in the States (that was unnecessary) like ketchup and mayonnaise and didn’t overseas! I’ve changed lots of my favorite brands, but I feel much better & more “clear”…. I assumed that you guy’s were eating tons of local fruits & veggies without any pesticides or chemicals that we have here,I had no idea! I should’ve known though because many locals feel that that “farming” is poor man’s work at many of the other places I’ve spent much time, like Belize….they eat cabbage on burgers & sandwiches because of that, but….. it’s good!

Just finished watching. Congrats on getting the Water maker fixed. It’sa tough choice on which one to get tbh.Spectra are great for low power consumption and clearly have pretty good reliability, but it can be tough to get parts in various parts of the World. Igor Stropnik the Croatian guy with a really nice KZfaq channel, really rates the Rainman Watermaker for example and others, the Seawater Pro DIY brand for Globally available common Watermaker components, but they aren’t exactly the most power efficient ?So I’m thinking about installing Two Watermakers - a Spectra main one, and a DIY one for backup and global availability of parts. I need a bigger Boat 🤣 lol and I haven’t even bought another one yet. A bit shocked at the price of Fruit and Veg tbh as well. Frankly I would head for the USA for a provisioning supply run, pick up Walmart powdered milk, and lots and lots of Dehydrated dried Fruit and vegetables, plus tinned ones ? tbh, get yourselves North and outside of Hurricane Alley Season does look to make a lot of sense if you combine it with a Re provisioning Run Doesn’t it? 🤔then start heading back South around the end of October, and start following Longitude 65 to bypass the Bahamas to get to the cheaper parts of the Caribbean quicker. Should be able to start Bartering in the Open Air Markets pretty soon as well. Cigarettes for Fishermen for Fish, and in markets for Fruit and Vegetables? 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧❤️

Hi guys, just started watching this episode, and a tip before I forget to mention it, that I found in 2016 while provisioning my boat while in the USA - Walmart Powdered Milk is up there with the very best in the world, and worked out brilliantly for all real milk uses. Brilliant value, and can keep well in the right containers. Condensed milk can work really well too, if you can get it at a decent price- I used to take the Carnation Condensed Milk in the Toothpaste type tubes when motorbike touring in Europe, as the bigger containers and tins, turned out to be a right pain in the neck - one Tube used to last me about a week for tea, coffee, and breakfast porridge.👍 Bob. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧⛵️❤️

Great question and we get this one heaps! They have a puppy passport each with their vaccinations and before we leave to enter any country we do all the paperwork required for that country. In over 15 years of use I never had a Sulpste problem with Lead Acid batteries by keeping them at an absolute minimum of 12.2 volts or 50% Capacity, before fully recharging them to 100% AGM BATTERIES should be kept above 80% Capacity to hugely extend their Service Life, and Li Time plus, and Power Queen Lifepo4 Batteries are now good enough for a Bank treated properly for a second Bank, to be used to keep all the AGM, Starter, Windlass, and bow thruster Batteries to be kept in tip top condition by using DC to DC hanging from them, while keeping the Lifepo4 Batteries above a 50 % statevof charge, and gently charging and Discharging them to maximise their service LivesRe the engine, looks like the Hrat Exchanger needs a thorough clean as well ? . Re the Oil changes - good quality Synthetic oils have a phenomenally tough structure, and as such can stand to be changed every few years, but it is important to change the Oil Filters Regularly, and the Charter Companies fully service every three months for good reasons, so here's an idea ? Bulk Buy high quality pattern Oil Filters, and change them every three months ? At the same time check and clean water and fuel,Filters, and check everything else as well, including gearbox, Saildrive, etc. Every few years send a sample of the oil in for analysis of how gourmet engine is doing internally, so you know where you standtbh, Id be looking for somewhere less exposed to hole up for the rest of Hurricane Season. Very Best Wishes. Bob.🌟🌟🌟👍❤️

@@SailingZephyr It’s worth noting that Lead Acid batteries and which may apply to AGM as well do self discharge surprisingly rapidly, so it is well worth checking their Voltage Daily for an easy diagnosis of their internal state ? Once they get below 12.2 volts they start dropping in voltage scarily fast, and there is no such thing as a Deep Discharge battery that is safe to actually Deep Discharge- every Deep Discharge Damages Batteries, and advertising them as if it is ok to Deep Discharge them is false advertising as far as I’m concerned. Once you know how to treat your batteries right, the gains and the Service Life of them become pretty substantial to be honest. Only now do I feel that I know enough about Lifepo4 batteries to be able to have the confidence to install a Bank 2 of them for a management role for keeping all other batteries in tip top condition, and I can now do that with the very cheapest of them by splitting them into a Bank of 4 x 100 ah and a usable up to 200 amps, via gentle discharging and gentle recharging, so the individual batteries in that Housebank never get stressed- note, I will never use 200 amps topping up the AGM batteries during the hours of darkness, so I don’t even need Li Time or Power Queen Batteries any longer, though their new BMS is very attractive to have. See Will Prowse comparison testing video, and his test of Seikon 100 ah battery to see why. Note NEVER Abuse Batteries like Will does, he does provide useful insights, but I suspect he just loves blowing shit up tbh.🤣🤣🤣 (seems Lifepo4 batteries like being charged at 0.15 x C, with C being the Bank Capacity so max amperage charge for an 800 an Bank capacity is 120 amps, so if 4 batteries in the Bank, they are only getting 30 amps each if your connections and wiring are properly balanced - so no stress, and no overheating )Best Wishes. Bob in Wales .🤔🌟🌟🌟👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧⛵️❤️
