Fine. Now it is official what I've been knowing since the appearance of the synchron player. Perhaps other readers/user will agree (if so, please like my comment to keep it up here) when I elaborate why your synchron player will never replace VI Pro. At least as long as the concept of the SyncPlayer stays the same. 1. VI Pro was the most intuitive sampler that I have ever seen - and I've been doing this for decades. No waste of space, everything was clearly visible. 2. The options how to set things were amazing! Yet, never overwhelming. Your setups could be incredibly complex, you had any freedom you could wish for. The feature set was one-of-a-kind. Too much to name them all here, but still on one uncluttered GUI. 3. the sequencer on page 2 of the GUI. Brilliant. Sure, you could do that in your sequencer too, but with keyswitches and all? Instead, in the sampler's own sequencer all you had to do was to choose which note should be played by which cell. Genius. For ostinati this was pure gold. 3. stacking of sounds, crossover for slots, I mean, c'mon, what a bless for forging articulation transistions! 4. Automatic level adaptions to different venues with MIRx. 5. Did I mention the efficient use of GUI space? 6. Dry stereo instruments and sections which were placed automatically in their right place. Actually, all you had to do to get a perfectly balanced orchestra at your fingertips was to activate MIRx and load an instrument patch. All you had to do was a tiny bit of EQing if you felt the need to do so. Oh, wait, even that: included in that efficient GUI. Compression? Lower the dynamic range. 7: Volume curves drawable over the keyboard of your piano Now, I don't say I couldn't see why a new sampler became necessary. However, I say that you evaluated the need for change wrongly. VI Pro had no dedicated mixer for different microphone setups. I see that. Most of the serious competitors have that. I have two thoughts on that. First, one way to integrate that into VI Pro, without complex coding, would have been to create new libraries divided in mics. Like: Strings - Violins - Sustain - Close/Decca/AB/Room. We had slots in VI Pro, and for each slot we had a fader and a Pan/Width knob. Here we are, full mix freedom, even in VI Pro. So easy. Second, I have a quite provocative opinion about giving the user several micing options. I really believe that most users/composers are tricked into believing they would NEED that to get a decent orchestral sound. The truth is: what we had with MIRx and the VI Pro sampler was more than enough to get a perfect orchestral stage sound. A great arrangement, a great composition gets you much further than having the option to push up the A|B fader 3 more dBs. I know, I've been an audio engineer for 20 years. So don't get distracted by options, dear composer, make music - not adjustments noone of your listeners will ever care about. Remember, we had the dry/wet fader of MIRx. Make it drier and upfront, push it back into the room... it has been there all along, your good friend in the MIRx module. The decision for VSLs path into the future has been made. It has been made a long time ago. And following this decision, code has been written, libraries have been recorded, concepts have been made. I get it. There is no way back. But be told that sometimes decisions are not necessarily the most thoughtful ones.

I bought it. Sounds great. But I can NOT find anywhere in videos or documentation on how to use this in a DAW, to record multitrack pieces. As in: 1. HOW DO I SEND A PATCH CHANGE, SO IT WILL RECORD THAT IN THE TRACK? 2. DO I HAVE TO HAVE A SEPARATE INSTANCE OF THE SYNCHRON PLAYER INSTALLED ON EVERY TRACK IN MY DAW in able to record? Some statements about this stuff would have been helpful. Everything I see is geared towards just playing in real-time, which is NOT HOW ORCHESTRATING WORKS! Someone please help.

"...close to 100 gigabyte of delicate harp samples that could be on your hard drive ... soon." Gave me a laugh, because it's true. I feel when it comes to traditional orchestral instrument samples, the timpani and harp are not sampled thoroughly enough by most library makers. Then, I thought of Vienna - they know how to thoroughly sample instruments. How did I not think of this before?? And what an interface!
