I've just subscribed after trying the free version for a while - the subscription is shared across our Apple Family group which means there are six of us getting value from the subscription (I was offered a 40% discount on the annual subscription and decided it was worth it.) I have ADHD and so does my daughter (age 20) and I've found this helps me focus like nothing else I've ever tried. It's astounding for scattered brains like mine. Being able to customise and tweak the soundscape as it's playing is brilliant. I crank up the beat if I want it more rhythmic and dial down if I want it a bit less structured. I use the Sleep mode at night when I'm drifting off to sleep and I seem to have developed a Pavlovian response - start Sleep mode, hear the sounds ... eyes get droopy and I can barely stay awake. My son (age 18) used to listen to white noise at night but he now listens to the Nature mode on Endel and loves it. The Walk mode is amazing - the faster I walk, the higher paced the beat is on the Endel soundscape and I find it really invigorating. The fact that it takes input from my Apple Watch and modulates the sound accordingly makes it so much better than the soundscapes I was previously using. I tend to have it on autoplay most of the time via Bluetooth to the radio in my home office. I work hybrid so when I'm in the city office, I have it in my AirPods on transparency mode. I used to have to switch my music off if I was on video calls but now I can leave Endel playing in the background and it doesn't disrupt my conversations at all. 100% worth the subscription for me, especially since our whole family can use it. Having said that, the free version still has a lot of functionality and is well worth a try.

Good stuff and the app looks solid. Unfortunately, the price is way out of my range-much more expensive now. Fair enough.

Endel is great because they take great care to make sure there are no repetitive or tinny sounds in their relaxing and sleep mixes. It's very easy to zone out and stay rested.

It is such a predatory app. Every time you want to try it out they ask for your credit card information. Better stick to running KZfaq in the background.

I agree that residency is hard and that long hours are necessary to gain all of the knowledge required to practice independently. An internal medicine physician must see so and so many cases of heart failure or pneumonia to know how to both recognize and treat each. The same goes for any physician and the diagnoses within their respective field. The difficult part, as you stated, is that an average of 63,000 dollars per year is not enough to live off of WHILE paying off loans for the majority. I believe that this perpetuates the problem in ways additional to the lack of primary care physicians (as you stated). As a second-year student, I am not alone when I speak of classmates that have not had to take out a single dollar in loans because their parents have paid for their education thus far. Those who feel 63,000 is sufficient are often those who did not have to take out loans that accrue interest daily. This entire issue prevents those from lower and middle backgrounds from more readily pursuing medicine. I understand that the funding comes from the US government, but I find it hard to believe that 10 billion dollars annually is all that we can afford. Our military shells out around 780 billion dollars to protect its citizens. I find the fact that it cannot further graduate medical education via increased pay quite unethical if those same ethics justify the far greater military protection. Medical ethics highlights the necessity to provide justice - fairness in medicine. General ethics also routinely bolsters the argument that we must sacrifice the few to save the many as noted by the famous trolley problem. Would it not be in our best interest to sacrifice additional spending to save and provide care to more? Our government has a duty to protect us, why would the verb not carry over to include reinforced healthcare on all angles? The final point that I do not believe to be fair is resident salary in comparison to midlevel providers. You mentioned is a previous video that 77 percent of residents feel the same. I am not advocating for decreased midlevel pay but certainly believe an individual holding a doctorate in medicine that is currently treating patients and working often twice the number of hours (as midlevel providers) should receive the same salary.

Hey Dr. Abhishek. Do you have some belief about how data science could turn the medical fraternity into a reachable resource. Reaching to even the smallest villages. I run a health IT and RCM company. It would be great to know thought of young physician like you on it. We call it "healthcare uncharted"

thanks alot doctor A wonderful topic to be discussed.. I have one concern and a question at the same time... after all of these low_income residency years,Do things become easier I mean after residency can you find a good_paid work or things will continue to be difficult??
@agarwaldo

Great question- for the most part, things usually financially get easier as long as you can stay financially disciplined (especially if you have a lot of student debt). You can check out The White Coat Investor for more info. Professionally, it can be challenging for the first 1-3 years after yesterday (you’re getting used to a new job, way more responsibility, and learning how the real world of medicine actually works).

Does it damage hearing in any way? I believe that using it <75Db should be ok, no?
@agarwaldo
@agarwaldo 2 жыл бұрын
Your hearing can be affected by how LOUD the sound is (which you control by adjusting the sound on your phone). Using <75dB should technically be okay. If you want more info you can check out the CDC guidance here: www.cdc.gov/nceh/hearing_loss/public_health_scientific_info.html#:~:text=The%20World%20Health%20Organization%20(WHO,list%20of%20noise%2Drelated%20publications%20. Additionally, if you're concerned about hearing loss please consult your doctor.
