I remember that show. I was young, age 12, but I remember it airing for the first time. I always watched the Carol Burnett show growing up. My sister was 2-1/2 years older than me and had a huge crush on Richard Carpenter at the time.

Beautiful song ❤ In Love Alone Lyrics I memorize the words I want to say I practice every move I'll make I play the scene like you were here And I feel every breath you take But all my plans just seem to melt away The moment you walk in the room I try to speak but words won't come Till I'm alone again I'm leaving my heart on the shelf Sleep is a place I only cry myself And dream by myself I'm not in love alone We put our two hearts together Just like I'vе always known Once we begin wе're forever And I will never spend a long night Without you again So now you know what I've been going through Now all I really need to know Is why your eyes look so surprised Oh no! This can't be true Would you have let me walk away? Why have you kept your feelings locked away? Did I hear you say? I'm not in love alone We put our two hearts together Just like I've always known Once we begin we're forever And I will never spend a long night Without you again I'm not in love alone We put our two hearts together Just like I've always known Once we begin we're forever And I will never spend a long night Without you again

Alpert got to hear Karen's heavenly voice, up close, and in person. Not a recording. Not through speakers. He got to hear her from two feet away, from her vocal cords to his ears. What a treat!
I like the song but I don't understand the lyrics. Who's speaking and to whom?

Like her voice and back up singers echo from the heavens above, with a lead singer that seems coming from a very pretty female angel in her teens. When the Lord comes, she will be transformed little by little into a pretty-faced Susan Boyle thru that Tree that bears different fruits every month.I pray that I may have the chance to see her sing again there❤

Lol- why is Belinda Carlisle- dancing in the rain in the carpenters video. When, there's no connection AND it's part of clip from her own song Summer rain... hmm calling out on this.

When I created this video about 20 years ago, I wanted to have a clip of a couple dancing in the rain, and I was unable to find anything like that, until I saw a clip of Belinda Carlisle's song on tv. I looked around online and found a copy of the video and I borrowed a few clips from it to fit the lyrics.

Phil Ramone did her no favors producing her album.This cut demonstrates his fault as there is too much echo in her voice and is overwhelmed by the music.
@NedNickerson20105 күн бұрын
This is a raw recording of the song from her solo sessions. It was never remixed and was relegated to the A&M vaults. When Universal Music bought out A&M, someone in the A&M studios released the remaining tracks from Karen's solo album online. I think there were nine songs all together. I liked this one the best and made the video for it. If they had decided to include the song on her album, it would have been either re-done or remixed, and Karen might have re-recorded her vocals. But as it is, this is all I had to work with.

@@NedNickerson2010 I understand but I stand by opinion on Ramone's poor production on her released album.

No person is perfect, just as no family is perfect. I love the coloration of this video and the images remind us of the good things in life. God has given us one life to live and it is up to us to see the good in life and be grateful for each day He has given us. The Carpenter music will live on forever and I hope future generations will love this music with the same affection as when it began in 1969.

This was the last song she recorded. While taking a break from medical treatment in NYC, this was recorded in one take. A few months after her passing, Richard edited the tracks. Fly high Karen, you made the purest music with the sweetest smile that ever graced this industry…

I love this video and I love this song. Is it from "Offering" ? Don't know why the album didn't do well. This is REAL music with emotion !!!
@NedNickerson20106 күн бұрын
Yes, this was on their first album, "Offering," which was later retitled "Ticket to Ride," and re-released with a new album cover after the success of "Close to You."

Knowing her sad fate makes this song heart wrenching. A gorgeous voice and a lady who never bothered with all that veneer crap that so many entertainers fall for. She was genuine, real and her angelic voice reflected her true character.
