That motherfucker looks like hes so strong on the mat. On top especially but in all areas.

Schultz is one of the greatest, underrated imo. He's an instinctual wrestler, evident in his counters to Smith's single leg attempts

I dont like how they made that rule just for schultz headlock. If you get an olympic level guy in such a dominant position they should just let you do it...

One of the seven basic skills in wrestling in the back arch. Watch DS back arch when executing that ankle lace. That’s why it was so powerful. I also think that DS was employing some treachery with those “loose shoes” that came right off. That makes kicking out of a single leg easy.

Great match. Dave Schultz is the most passionate competitor i've ever seen in any sport. Rob Koll is vastly underrated and does not get enough credit. Great wrestler and coach. Outstanding recruiter and developer of talent for team success, individual success, and potential coaches. Two complete winners. Pleasure to watch
@killcancer64995 жыл бұрын
You will see Dave use the double wrist lock at about the 5 minute mark which disqualified his brother in the '84 Olympics. It wasn't illegal here because he didn't bend the arm back away from the body. I think you can make a case for it being illegal when Mark used it in '84, but I don't think it was intentional.
@runtodanger5 жыл бұрын
Kill Cancer yes if you watch enuff vids on Dave and Mark they use it a lot to counter leg attacks ( Dave’s study in BJJ prob where he got it) it’s a Kimura in Jitsu.

Some of the most BRUTAL front head techniques implemented by Dave...Rob's style of unders and overs fed right into Dave's mastery of front heads, Russian ties, and dangerous high amplitude throws and trips. Bravo to two legendary competitors from my era!
