Merchant: "Yeah, but I've seen Ray Leonard and, ah, Roy Jones is no Ray Leonard." I've seen Ray Leonard, too. And, Roy is better. People like Merchant, Burt Sugar and Bernard Fernandez refused to acknowledge what they were seeing. Which was, with all due respect to Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson, the most gifted boxer in history. Hopkins is an all-time great middleweight and Roy just handled him, easily.

George Foreman is the biggest BAFOON, every single thing he said was completely opposite of what happened😂😂😂 LOL what a absolute goof. Lol Formen sucked anyways. Oh lol.. Formen said he wasn't going to knock him down with one punch exactly what he did George Foreman's a clown😂😂

The commentary on this is so wide of the mark. Round 2 from Leonard: "Chavez is frustrated (having dropped Aguilar the previous round!). He's loading up and needs to throw combinations (Chavez is throwing combinations and walking through Aguilar!). This has not been a good round for Chavez (is out-landing Aguilar quite heavily and has way more on his shots!)". No wonder the same broadcast team had Taylor pitching a near-shutout a couple of years later.

Van Horn was damn good. Today he would be a champ FOR SURE. I saw him tear guys up in the gym sparring. Top guys too. He was just too small for Barkley, but that was the 80’s and 90’s when you took the next man up. Today his manager would have ducked Barkley as he should 😂 Iran Barkley was a tough SOB from The Bronx. Not a great boxer technically, but what he lacked in skill he made up for with his devastating left hook and heart. When he KO’d Hearns it was a huge upset.

I had been looking for this fight for years. I was in attendance and was in the ring at the end of the fight. My stepfather trained Jerry Martin and I accompanied them up to Rahway. Amazing to see my 17 yr old self behind Jerry. A great fight. This was when the light heavyweight division was exciting and very competitive.
