Far out that was some serious dags on that second sheep. As an X shearer I know some shearer’s in big sheds wouldn’t shear them off. Reckon it was to hard on the gear. Thought we were going to get kicked out of one shed when they left the dags on the sheep all day. The cocky ran them back through the next day and paid us crutching rates to tidy them up .🤪

How do you like the Handypiece? Good for small jobs so you don't have to set up the overhead?

His overhead setup is one of the mosf portable. But the handypieces makes 2 s or 3s really quick

I can't believe how amazing this is. Is there reasonable demand these days for this skill set? I'm in an established trade and career, but if something ever went sideways, I'd gladly give this a shot. You are an artist.

Reasonable demand. Find a shearing course that's offered near you. Learn the basics and find out what it's really like. Buy some gear, advertise locally, and take on a few jobs as a weekend side gig. Grow it from there.

They don’t seem to mind! Afterward they usually they find a fence post, have a good scratch then go out and start eating grass.

Never seen someone use a glove, does it help? Maybe a kevlar one for using 9-tooth combs would save some fingers!

This one is leather but I also have Kevlar ones I bought on Amazon that are are equally protective. The Kevlar pair can both fit on the left hand and are therefore better value. The glove I use is “fingerless” and I don’t even know it’s on. I don’t think it would prevent a cut fingertip but that’s not why I wear it. Last spring I had a sheep jerk awkwardly causing a large gash in my left hand narrowly missing a tendon. I was able to get the necessary repairs and continue shearing. If my tendon would have been cut I would have needed to shut down for an extended period of time. I wore a fingerless glove to protect the cut and just kept wearing it.

Hey. I love watching your videos. They are very relaxing to me. Would you mind taking some photos of the way you have your door hinges set up? I have a portable custom chute system with doors that swing outward. My doors have 2 main issues. They don't like staying closed and sometimes they don't like closing quickly. I have tried 4 different hinges/springs and I can't seem to get them to behave as well as yours do. Thank you!

That support bar seems like such a good idea. I have never seen it used before. I can imagine it takes a lot of the pressure off of the shearer’s back. This guy seems really good at what he does.
