Eigentlich ist dies ein Medley aus dem "Colonel Bogey-Marsch" von Kenneth Alford und dem eigenlichen "River-Kwai-Marsch" von Malcolm Arnold. War der "Schlager" des Jahres 1957 !

Beautifully played, exceptionally well done by an amazing group of young German musicians. Also, what a strange thought that, despite this being Zimmerman’s “Navy Hymn,” eighty years ago we allied nations would have been well satisfied to see a 16” HE shell go through the roof of that gymnasium. Thank God times have changed and Germany is now our dependable NATO ally!

Not Zimmerman’s “Navy Hymn” but rather the fight song for the US Naval Academy’s football team that has become generally associated with the US Navy through its use, with rewritten lyrics, by the movie industry in mid-century service films. While commonly heard at official US Navy functions, it has no official status within the US Navy, either with the original Naval Academy lyrics or the later Hollywood-ized versions. The actual (and only) Navy hymn is “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” written in Great Britain; it first used on a regular basis again at the US Naval Academy, from where it eventually spread again through the Navy as a whole, albeit with additional/altered lyrics that corrupt it’s original beauty and strength. In truth it was almost certainly in use in the United Kingdom well before it’s emergence in Annapolis, but there are no records of that. ,
