The structure of “Boot Camp” was to All new comer druggies. I came into the Oakland house. I lived in Oakland for a couple of months before going to Walker Creek for my Boot Camp. After boot camp graduation then we were taught a trade and worked on a cube. The cube was a length of days one worked then off time from one’s job. My cube was 5x5, which means, I worked five days on then five days off. The longer one stayed in Synanon you would get switched to a different job; as an example, I worked in food service. I first started with the dinningroom, then I waited on the executive tables then I worked the kitchen cooking and keeping the line stocked, checking for any spoiled food and disposal of it. With having so much time off one was able to better one’s self by learning other jobs, as an example, on one of the properties we had a shoe repair and one could learn that as a trade. So please when you speak of Synanon speak of her gently. The documentaries left out a lot good, she just focused of the ugly and if it wasn’t ugly enough it was manipulated until it sounded just ugly enough to keep you watching the next portion. I miss my Synanon and I would love to play “The Game” again. If Synanon was the same today was it was the day I entered I would still be there still living my best Synanon life. I was there in Synanon a couple of years and felt the heartbreak of her changing; my heart was shattered and I cried for days hoping she would come back but Synanon was gone. The mandatory vasectomy was a choice for men who lived in Synanon 5 or more years; if one chose not to get the vasectomy then they left our world; however the mandatory abortion was also a choice. The woman had a choice to leave us and keep her baby or eliminate the pregnancy. she chose to stay with us. At that time there wasn’t anyone else pregnant but her. She was pregnant before Chuck said Synanon wasn’t going to have anymore children born into Synanon, when Chuck said no more kids is when she had to make a choice. There were 3/4 couples that just had Synanon babies living in the “Hatchery” that was the name of the house where the couples that had the last Synanon born into Synanon. Also the babies ARE NOT taken away from their parents at birth, the babies stayed with parents for the first 6 months then the child is raised with their peers that way mom and dad are able to go back to their jobs.
