Ayrton was very much his own man in the way he said and did things, he never copied anybody when it came to his style of racing and even though it wasnt always visible, he was very sensitive and the reality of the situation in his country bothered him very much and I'm proud that Ayrton's sister Viviane made sure Ayrton's goal to help the poor kids in Brazil get a second chance in life became reality. Ayrton will always be with us, but even though other F1 drivers have beaten his records (bar the record breaking lap he once achieved that no one has been able to beat) he will always be the one F1 driver that people will openly say they love and admire despite being aware that Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have also left their own marks on the sport as well. Let’s have this right - he was only in Strangeways for around 3 weeks and he had it easy, proper easy. Got a gym orderly job almost immediately, got placed on the food servery straightaway, infact a perfectly good lad who had been doing the servery job for a while got the boot and Barton took over his job for no other reason than he was a ‘celebrity’. Higher management at Strangeways were told in no uncertain terms that he was to be ‘wrapped in cotton wool’. He got whatever was needed to keep him happy.
