Hi guys enjoying the podcast again. My nephew and his girlfriend were there last week and they thoroughly enjoyed their time there. I’m still trying to get myself organised in between shit happening with life getting in the way.

I get that you guys are a bit circumspect about gill net buy backs but where the nets are allowed it makes a huge impact, for example, the Ansons Bay system I have had 100 fish catch and release over two days before the netters got there and then 15 fish over two days on the next set of tides. Admittedly that could be just fishing but when Anson's is the breeding ground for the Daly and the Daly continues to not produce the fish it is famous for the question needs to be asked.

Looking at the Qld gillnet fisherie, the biggest holder of symbols is the World Wildlife Foundation who have spent years buying licences and shutting down the fishery. The big effect with this is they reduce the total catch year on year so the data shows a dimeshing catch and this gets all the scientist and pollies wanting to close the fishery based on BS data. Back in the 60/70's Qld gov was going to bring Nile Perch in because the total East coast Barra catch numbers collapsed getting all the do gooders up in arms. The reality was one comercial fisher had been netting PNG waters for some years and had been politly asked by the PNG locals to not come back, result was an almost 50% reduction in the Qld comercial Barra catch. Spot on Ash, Bungendore is about 40km east of Canberra. Very nice what you did for the kids, you would be super heroes to them

I marvel that people expect things to be fixed so quickly after such a big flood event. If they wanted perfect they should have stayed home until next year. 3 months to get things fixed is pretty remarkable - doesnt matter where you are. Wouldnt expect things fixed that quick here in Brisbane FFS.

The Little River Band! I loved that band as a kid. I was like 10 or 11 when Lady came out, taught myself the piano part... then Lonesome Loser and so many other great tunes! How cool they play For King Ash Bay! Man though, sorry you all are having such a hard year, I hope for the best. Sometimes it feels like we are all just hoping the females will arrive.

Can Ash do a what’s in the pot and try different baits in the pot that is set next to a pot with your regular bait and see what the difference in catch rate is and ask the punters what bait to use
