My buddies AC went out for 3 days and his glued ceiling with spots of the popcorn came crashing down! I helped him re-apply the glue and also put staples in it so it would not happen again! Hmmm! I would highly recommend adding small staples …

Who cares about a ceiling to begin with . As long as there is no water stains no one gives a damn.
@DecorativeCeilingTilesInc10 күн бұрын
We do Robert! :-) Ceiling makes a huge difference to a room because it is the largest area of the room that does not get covered. It makes the room.

PSA: Be careful if you try to remove the popcorn ceiling, as it may contain asbestos.

Yes I remember them very well back the 70s or 80s they are pretty much ban but still can be found on line but now can buy Press metal tiles the same pattern in full sheet s or meter squares I believe it's very popular around country s yes saves alot of painting sanding especially 👍👍

You could hang some quarter inch sheet rock right over it
@DecorativeCeilingTilesIncАй бұрын
Yes it could be done but it is easier to glue these tiles over. No taping, no mudding, sanding and painting. And some people like the extra detail these decorative tiles provide. There are many design and color options.

Should have done the crown molding first, then finish with the ceiling tiles

This tile is very deep 5/8" and so the "Lip" of the crown would have to be at least 5/8".

How do I keep the corners secure? A few of them kept popping off during installation.😮
@pippahappy97352 ай бұрын
I would stick with the popcorn ceiling. Polystyrene is a terrible thing to have if you have a fire. Extremely dangerous! Just use a wallpaper streamer and you can easily remove the textured ceiling. You might need to replaster, thankfully a couple of coats of paint worked for me. By the way that ceiling by the end of the video looked even worse than the popcorn finish 😂😂

I hope this idiot tested that ceiling for a specialist and led base paint before he started screwing with. In some states his actions would be illegal

As a professional contractor we don’t install this type of material because it is very flammable also when working on older homes we recommend testing existing materials on ceiling for asbestos, always be aware that remodeling older homes are often more difficult than you may think.
@RaeMcmullen3 ай бұрын
The ceiling looked better without the polystirene tiles , they looked cheap & tacky in the 70's & look even worse now . Not to mention the fact that they are an absolute fire risk . Do not put them on if you want to sell your house as you will be made to take them off to satisfy a survey .

@7:43 I dont like the look of the molding on the tiles, if you look at the tiles, there are gaps, maybe a 1/4 round would be better

Hello, I would not recommend the foam tiles on a wall as they can be damaged easily. PVC might be a better choice, see here: www.decorativeceilingtiles.net/faux-tin-ceiling-decor/

Thank you so much kind sir for the information. I will definitely get the PVC type. God blessings.@@DecorativeCeilingTilesInc

These are banned in most countries because of the noxious fumes given of when easily set fire to and burned...also if you have a bobbly artex ceiling you can use hot water to get it of or plaster over the ceiling no need for polystyrene used in the eighties to cover up a ceiling or just live with it
@anneann91273 ай бұрын
Or you can get up on a ladder and scrape a 22 x 14ft room like I did and I'm no spring chicken! I honestly couldn't live with the gaps between the tile even after the grout or the way that crown molding looks up against the tile.
