I killed a set of these carbs by over tightening my air/fuel mixture screw. I tightend the brass in the little hole and snapped off the tip 😣 i wish i had this video back then.

Thanks for your comment. We know this, I work with JIS screwdrivers myself. Our main channel comes from Germany, where JIS screwdrivers are hardly known. Since our videos are aimed at beginner mechanics, we try to list tools that everyone has at home. However, we will take your advice into account and mention the JIS screwdrivers in future translations.

These carburetors are more complex than most.

I have been building carburetors for 15 years, usually 500 a year, most of them are more complicated than the CX carburetors, I enjoy making them.

If the fill level is too high, the float body must be further away from the carburettor housing.

To be really correct, people should be using JIS screwdrivers, not phillips screwdrivers. Using phillips screwdrivers on Japanese motorcycles is why the screw heads get all messed up. If you get JIS screwdrivers you can put a lot of torque on them without the screwdriver camming out.

@@CarbKingYT That was my assumption (that you knew but were just simplifying), but I thought it should be mentioned. I just checked, looks like Amazon Germany has plenty of JIS screwdrivers - absolutely anyone working on a Japanese bike should get a set, they're like 10 euro.
@CarbKingYT

In our German videos we link to an inexpensive set from specialist retailers. A collaboration with Amazon would mean that I could also link a sentence here. But before I work with Amazon, I would rather not do it. ;-)

thanks for the instructional video. It's best to only use JIS screwdrivers on japanese carbs otherwise the screw heads will strip out. Also, the video would be much better without the music. Overall, very helpful

I dislike those rubber seals so much. Sometimes they can be a real pain in the butt. Call me oldskool. But I miss paper gaskets.
@CarbKingYT
@CarbKingYT 9 ай бұрын
I know exactly what you mean. 😉But paper seals also have disadvantages, for example they are sometimes really difficult to remove if they have been installed for years...

Very thorough and informative video. I enjoyed watching up until your background music loop started over for the tenth time. So friggen annoying and hate that shit. You need to lose the music, you don’t need it. I almost got to the point to just turned off the volume, but what good would that do? It would of helped if you gave some tips about issues of carbs.
