I’ve just bought a Garmin XT and I would like to put the bicycle rides on it that I have on my Garmin Edge 500 and they are also on the Garmin Connect website. Anyone any idea how it's done? The files on the 500 are Fit files, not gpx There must be a way, they are both Garmin
@3131960danКүн бұрын
@@ronlysons6750 if you can create a gpx from the fit file you can put it on the xt. Although even if you can convert it not all the data will definitely transfer. Only the navigation related files would show up. No idea on software to convert. Contact Garmin, they should be able to guide ya.
@ronlysons6750Күн бұрын
@@3131960dan Thanks for that Dan, I see what you are saying about only the navigation files showing. I must admit that never crossed my mind. Hopefully I will sort it out because I have loads of great rides I have done on my bicycle. Most of which are between 80 and 120 miles, all the lovely English countryside. The reason I need them on my Zumo is because they were done as group ride with many twist and turn. I could never these routes.

Have you ever tried rotating the tire on the rim on one that is that far off? I have found I can reduce the weight sometimes by half. Rims and spokes can be heavier one side or the other too….just a thought throwing your way.

Wish I could have made this. You need to rough up the tube and also the inside of the tire (if tubeless) for any of the patch kits. The plug patches are perfect for tubeless. Must get proper bond, so it is similar to painting. Prep is key.

Seth made a comment that he rode for 18 years before he had a flat (on the road mostly) I was thinking I have had years where I may have had 18 flats in a year! LOL offroad is rough on the tires!

I have a 500 on mousses and a GSA 1250, after riding this track which of the two do you think would be better suited for this route? How long are the pavement sections? That's really the only thing that concerns me in regards to riding on the road but not a big deal if I can keep speeds to 50-55 mph max.
@3131960danАй бұрын
The northern part of this loop from Page AZ to almost Southfork CO is paved. It goes over wolfcreek pass which is great tarmac but i would not want mousses on that section. The 500 would be nice for the dirt part and the 1250 for the street🤪. 1250 in the sunset creater ash would not be fun! The 690 was the perfect bike for this loop!!!!!

Thank you for making this video. Garmin seems to be stuck in the early 2000s with their software. If we have to refer to a manual to do something, it's not intuitive. Even the manuals can be vague.

If the XT loses a stable power connection it goes to 40% brightness making it unreadable. It is impossible to change brightness back to 100% as the XT prompts you to connect to a 'stable power connection' to achieve this, which you obviously cannot do on the road if your stable power connection fails making battery life useless. it has to be connected to a power source to function which is a big design flaw for a motorbike satnav in my opinion if you ever have to rely on the battery for whatever reason.
@3131960dan2 ай бұрын
If you install it correctly you shouldn’t have this issue. There have been a few owners that have had connection pin issues but not many. I have had the XT since it was first released. Use it on 3 different bikes that i ride rugged offroad trails on. It has worked flawlessly . If you want something that will run off battery power you need the Montana. Battery will last all day but its not designed for riding. More of a hike/ hunting gps.

Thanks for the vid, It did help me manage to xfere gpx to XT via explore and 'drive' (as 'explore' doesn't work directly with the xt but through 'Drive') but boy, is Garmin softwear crap. And dont even get me started on basecamp, its just crap for laypeople.
