Gary, I do not know if you, yourself have any actual experience in welding. But I have enjoyed your videos and I believe you know as well as I do. There is no welding code! ASME is not qualified to write any code, let alone a welding code because they are not metallurgists! AWS is written by doctors of metallurgy! They qualified to write a welding but do not, why I have no idea! I use B.2 only and/or the military specifications, the experts! Three mile island nuclear, so called accident, was in fact a failure involving ASME. We need a code for welding, period. Written by experts that know what they are doing. A code that addresses, new to new, new to old and repairs, both new and old. That also addresses the safety factor and service life. I have 40+ years as a welder and retired CWI as a coordinator.

I agree about what you said. There's always one welder in the comments who thinks they know everything because they welded at 1 or 2 jobs their entire life and only seen a little small piece of the welding industry. And they're so close-minded that they think their way is the only way. Then I see the comments that say things like if you would have done that where I work you would have been fired. Most of them probably don't know anything about a code or a standard. I've never had formal training and don't know the ins and outs

I’m on the 10th video of yours, as a budding hobby welder but medical professional background your delivery of info in a scientific manner is exactly what I had been looking for. I wanted more than welding tutorials I wanted the reasoning behind it. Thank you!

Hey Garry I waas going trough some of your content and it was delightful, I really hope you continue on doing these videos. Also wanted to add maybe if you can explain briefly on AWS D1.8 with the topic on demand critical weld tests? I've been reading through especially on the filler metal testing and still don't understand some of the tests in that area. Thank you!
