I used to grind my valves in with a drill 50 years ago.

yet another enjoyable upload Tim - coming along nicely. saw one of these in real life on Sunday - a bit small for me at 34in inside leg but still a lovely machine

Never lap a valve in with a drill they have to be lapped half a turn each way!
@tkbikes18 сағат бұрын
Oh well I’m not taking them out again and the suction stick wouldn’t stick so only option

Great workmanship.......totally agree that if you're not happy with something.......STOP! Think about it, diagnose the problem, fix it and only then, move on. Good practise.......it'll be worth every minute you spent on that build in the end.

Oh god I’m getting many problems and having to stop! 🤬 I’ll get there. 🤞

You are a true back street mechanic hero. The bike looks lovely. I have had 2 CX 500's over the years. Both of which I did a complete engine rebuild . Your method of operation is the same as I have been employing since 1987 . Bin the king and queen seat. And that horrible rack. Thank you for producing this video
@tkbikes18 сағат бұрын
Hey thanks for your positive comment. Ive been on the bikes since 1990 when I bought my first. Never not owned a bike since. You did well to rebuild a CX500.big job that. I was lucky my engine was sweet. 😃

Great progress so far, glad you spotted the missing O rings before fitting the barrels, reckon you might have sworn just a bit. 😀 Even the genius Allen Millyard nearly put the crankshaft in the wrong way round on the latest build, the Norton Nemesis V8!

Hey thanks for watching. Yes easy to make mistakes but as long as you rectify it then it’s ok 😀

Can't wait. Very inspiring content Tim, I'm glad I found you on YT...and ur a true grit Brit 😊

Omg my first motorcycle. I was 16. Now 76. Never seen this configuration. Rear swing arm no dampers. 2gears set off n bit faster. I put bigger sprocket on cud do 55mph. Honda not exist.this took me all over,all weathers. I had grey long seat. Could do two riders ,had rear pegs. but hills where I lived were a pest. Oh my, memories. Crankshaft seals n bearings iffy.clutch shot.rebuilt Bradford place. They burgled soon after and moved. Re bored cos groove in cylinder, sorted seals much better. My oh my. Who ever gets it pls look after it.

I use vice grips when all is lost, when they don't work I will use a chisel and hammer. Usually they will shock a screw loose, then replace with new hardware using antiseize. It's kinda crude but it works, especially if you can't use heat in the area. I just bought a 1977 400f to replace the one I had years ago ...so here I go again...
