Expecting a pro corporate bi-partisan economy to provide solutions to social issues is like filling a sandbag one grain at a time. I think this is something up the totem pole that needs a change, the states should look to places like Norway, Japan Singapore etc. Its high time for the white house to take review their approaches toward the most downtrodden of our society.

This is absolutely heartbreaking and has me in tears, because it's not right that this shelter isn't receiving some kinda funding from our government to continue operating, when it is doing so much to help those who so desperately need it and provides REAL results when it comes to addressing the homeless crisis in our country.. I thought I was white for many years. The definition seems to have changed over the years. Irish, Italians, Greeks, and Spaniards have been added to the what's considered white list. Heck, even Mexicans are classified as white these days. After doing a DNA test, I learned I was in one of those groups listed above that was swallowed up by whiteness. I reject the white identity that was placed on me as a baby. It's nothing more than a stupid social construct invented by Anglo-Saxon Americans. My people were the first slaves brought over by the colonists. We deserve reparations every bit as much as African Americans. But it'll never happen. The least white people could do is stop swallowing up similar ethnicities. I know they're going extinct because they refuse to have more than one baby per family but that doesn't give them the right to start adding other groups to their own to increase their numbers. It's kinda pathetic when you think about it.

Thank you, my daughter is 24, and she has lost more friends from O.D. than me at 60. Recently 3 of her boyfriend's best friends died together in their living room from cocaine laced with fentanyl. Many of her young friends continue to get high. It isn't good out there. She lives in L.A. now, It's good to know there are people actually doing something to help.

This gave me full body goosebumps. This needs to be heard by everyone who has had addiction part of their life. I started out on scripts, broke my back from a domestic violence situation. Doctor didn't wean me off. A "friend" gave me herōin, I wasn't sick...I felt great. I told myself "I'll never start shooting" Yea right! March 2022 I had aneurysm in my left groin and almost lost my leg. Still, that's wasn't it for me, unfortunately. April 2023, I just couldn't do it anymore. I went cold turkey, which almost gave me a stroke.. but there was a glimmer of hope still in me. I went to rehab. After that I went to a recovery home, which without that step I don't know what would've happened. I have THE MOST AMAZING sponsor! I'm almost 5mos sober and those promises are REAL! I'm currently in my own apartment, with everything I could ever want or need. Addiction is a disease. It can happen to ANYONE!! it doesn't discriminate. I give all thanks to my Higher Power, the program of A.A., and my support system. ❤
