For one of your corners you could put in a farm scene and the other maybe like a hill edge or a hill cut that the trains pay by. Just some food for thought. Happy model railroading from Benjamintrains!

Great progress Caleb! You're now the 4th person I've seen get a TrainJunkies backdrop lol. A double track mainline is a must-have for us, you're going to really enjoy it. Great job on creating a practical addition to your layout. I really like how you've done it. Building a layout is a long progress, so keep on keepin' on! I also really enjoy your channel. As far as the corners, how about a small mountain or cluster of rocks with trees and grass? I've seen this on other layouts, and I think it's a nice change from the usual building many modelers place on the corners.

Very nice! The extensions are just what the doctor ordered. Any time that you can add a second main line is a major improvement for your overall operational experience. It will be cool when you get all of the scenery and wiring finished. Scenery is next on my layout, but it is the one thing that I'm not good at. You've done a fine job here and I'm looking forward to the next update. An excellent video, as always.

I am not a fastrack fan however i have to say i love the switch stands lionel puts in the manual switches! I don't like the noise and price of FasTrack but i do kinda like the look of it. The switch stands add character to a southern inspired railroad. I haven't built a full layout but i would inspire it after a simple small town with little details. Speaking of which in one of those corners i would put maybe a small farm house near the town maybe! Great video!

Love the Progress. I had a layout that looked very similar to yours, but I ended up moving to O42/O54 curves with a hybrid tubular/fastrack plan.

Cool job on that kit bash for the Cheerwine factory. Alot of nice scenes in a 4x8 layout. Repairing the smoke unit should not be to difficult and you will have a great smoking steamer.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but I was wondering what radius track you're using for the main loop? Trouble shooting ideas for a similarly small layout and 0-27", O-31" or O-36" can make all of the difference. P.S. Loving the layout 😁

Great stuff, Caleb. The extentions that you are adding don't seem like much, but they actually double the size of your layout. I'm not sure how FasTrack works, compared to tubular, which I use, but you could mix 060 with some wider curves and your outer main would fit nicely in a 6 foot wide layout. I had to compromise on my layout, because I couldn't get K-Line O81 for my outside main on the narrow end of my layout. I had to reduce the curves on the inside main by mixing O72 and O54. It actually works quite well. 2 O72 sections, 4 O54 sections and then 2 O72 sections, with a 10 inch straight in the middle. I did that on my old layout, without the 10 inch section. It fit nicely between the O72 outer main and looked real good. Doing something like this on the outer main would allow you to go with the O60 on the inner main, without interfering with the new outer main. The only other thing that I can think of is to add a straight section in the middle of the outer curve, but that would bring your outer to within an inch or so of each side of the table. Either way, good luck on the upgrades. Keep the update videos coming. An excellent video, as always.

I rode the Southern Crescent in the summer of 1969 and I'm fairly certain it was pulled by two E-8s. A fond memory, to be sure. This model looks great.
