@@user-et6kt1rj3z Вы правы. И такой праздник неожиданно случился у меня пару недель назад. Пробегая по каналам ТВ, вдруг, на "Ностальгии" попала на "Великий Карузо"! Увы, не сначала. Посмотрела на одном дыхании! Нашла программу. Оказалось, на следующий день - повтор в ночном эфире. Опять посмотрела!)))) А ещё через день - "Любимец Нового Орлеана"! Ну разве не праздник?

😂😂😂😂😂You don't understand what you are talking about! There's not a slightest reason to compare him with a sertain pop singer, a lady in addition. Mario Lanza is a legend, about whom The Great Toscanini said that he was The Best Voice of the XX century. And who is Taylor Swift? Yes, a very gifted POP singer, who has now a big success. But who knows where she might be in a couple of years and who would remind her name in 20-30 years? Mario Lanza died almost 65 years ago, but he is still remembered and dearly cherished in hearts of millions of his fans all over the world. It's a pity, that this fact was unknown to you.

Imagine being a mouse cowering in the baseboard as this vocal performance is unfolding! This was either rehearsal or a recording session. No microphone in your teeth and no autotune magic. Only necessary recording equipment strategically placed to capture the panoramic effects of singers and symphonia. It was a spellbinding experience. All that musical magistry with the signature Lanza power punching out over the musical fray. This grand operatic aria was never loved so well by an ensemble of elite talent.

Yes, this role suted him very much. The movie would have been another great hit with him, while with Oreste Kirkop it had a rather mild success.

He had such a magnificent voice. I grew up listening to him and it gave me an appreciation for classically trained voices and classical music.

One of the undoubted merits of Lanza is that with his films and recordings he brought opera and classic vocals to the homes of ordinary people. The Great Caruso had started this with his recordings in the beginning of the XX century, and Lanza was his worthy successor.

He would have done this movie if he didn’t have issues with MGM. Tenor Oreste Kirkop did the movie with Kathryn Grayson. Though he was a tenor, he was no Lanza.

"Звезда" Марио Ланца "зажглась" своевременно и ярко ... Этот талантище был востребован, сейчас его не хватает... утешение - существуют записи великолепного голоса, фильмы, в которых Марио с нами, как-будто и не уходил, но в моём сердце Марио жив и очень деятелен... каждый день слушаю любимого артиста и каждый раз восторг, как в первый раз... This video is dedicated to the Birthday of MARIO LANZA. This duet was recorded for OST of his first film "That Midnight Kiss", but wasn't finally included into it. Already after his very first film Laza was recognized a Hollywood star and was greeted everywhere with great enthusiasm and admiration.

Believe you or not, it's Lanza. The voice is really much darker than in his younger days. And I agree that this rendition is not the best one. In 1959 some his recordings were excellent, but some, done already with great tention due to his declining health could be less brlliant than before.
