My dad taught me this knot when I was a kid. The only thing he did differently was that he ran the tag end back through the loop twice instead of once. Don't know what difference this makes, but I still always do it this way simply because it reminds me of him. He was a fantastic fisherman. I'm sure that he is now catching some whoppers in heaven.

I’ve been using this knot for years as well but I just spin the hook around 6 times and then lubricate it and pull tight and it’s the same thing.

I think the Trilene Knot is stronger ,your clinch knot has only one loop through the eye while the Trilene knot has two . I would think that would make it stronger .

you use those centerpin reels on a spinning rod or is it a hybrid fly rod/spinning rod made specially for the reels? I fished for steelies like this way back in the 80's you can ask fellow fishermen on the pilchuck, skykomish, stilly, skagit, snohomish.. used a cork, bobber red, attached to the main line, then a 4-6ft leader, a split shot right close to the hook with a sand shrimp attached using an egg loop.. I did well the few years I fished this style and my main motivation as the river wa changing so rapidly during the season back then I was reluctant to drift as I never knew what was on the bottom and was losing a lot of gear so I countered that by staying off the bottom and using firewire, still lost setups but I reduced it dramatically.. id use, large nigh crawlers I found at night with a flashlight in the yard, cured salmon stelly egg cluster I would cure in borax mixed with sugar free kool-aid powder, cherry red... and sand shrimp I would coat in a pack of sugar free kool aid before I set out, pour inthe pack and shake the container, I'd buy those the night before fresh, I tried coating the worms in kool-aid but it wouldn't take very well .. now and again I would simply use a small chrome corkie and chartreuse yarn, WORKS, soak the yarn in shrimp oil, also on the bigger deeper rivers like the skagit, snohomish and often the skykomish Id use a lunker light with a drift setup, KNOCKED EM DEAD, not sure why but only LARGE females would attack that setup, and I tend to throw females of size back, good to toss the large bucks back as well.. if everyone did this in 5-6 years they would all be fairly large, in 10 years, all large, 20 years, all massive.. they are trying this on select indian reservations and its working like gangbusters, there are utoob vids on this (addictive fishing).. brood fishing for; . . . but you must disregard temptation and throw back the biggest.. keep the smaller 8-12 pounders, until they are all above, then keep the 12-15 pounders, then they are all that big keep the 15-18 pounders, it stops around 30-35 pounders .. in teh day in the 60's I could land 24+ pounders routinely, then over my youth with commercial and the boldt decision they got smaller and smaller, yea the judge, judge boldt gave the indians an allotment of a fish, a count, so obviously they throw back the shakers keep the larger fish.. destroyed the pac west steely runs, some reservations are trying to bring it back, then the rearing ponds only had the hatch of smaller females, WSDFW is a fairly ignorant outfit, surprised there is any wildlife or fish at all... oregon not much better I'd use a long spinning rod with a spinning reel, still have it, 10ft, very light action, used what was called firewire line.. I could use a 6-8lb test diameter and reel in anything, = to 32lb tst? almost anything, I left a few car bodies and tree stumps at the bottom of those rivers however few snags and very few if any fish could break that line, that firewire was responsible for some hogs on the beach, oddly enough one day while fishing at hole at the end of "beach drive" I landed 2 hogs, one 28'bs, one 25, there were several witnesses, johns kids, loren hensen.. anywho fish stories right? I do remember back then only the girls and the kiddies used nets, still how it is I believe on the rivers? I mean who's going to walk up and down the river with a huge net in hand? pretty sure only girls use boats as well on those rivers, hale if the waters too cold for ya go home stoke the fire.. sheesh, surprised you fellas don't have a big screen and an espresso machine on board, you're not really fishing basically you're reeling fish close to the boat then netting them, I mean how do ya'll meet that hefty challenge week after week? anywho in an age where men look like women and women look like men and some are both what can one expect right?

whats the advantage / use case for this vs a snell knot around the shaft of the hook? is the other one primarily for tying on yarn, hoochies, etc?

The leader has zero stretch to it kzfaq.infoUgkxOnWw4BwVtrW450xWozo3OpVX4931NDw5 which is expected from a wire leader. Can’t test the quality of all the snaps yet but packaging was nice and neat and I couldn’t get anything to happen when I pulled on it.

Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats kzfaq.infoUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.

I have used the electric and 1050 riggers for many years. kzfaq.infoUgkxbjBedIFSQ6Y6rp8DrCC_aoWMZI8GUpmH I bought these lake trollers for my 15’ Grumman sport boat and they worked almost perfectly for fishing lake trout. The only negative is that they seemed sticky on the retrieval, so I removed the spool and greased the underside of the stainless steel plate with some lip balm (the only thing I could think to use that I had on the boat with me). Then they worked much more smoothly. I don’t recommend using these down riggers if you’re planning on fishing deeper than 50’ as you’ll spend more time cranking than you will fishing.

These are small floats kzfaq.infoUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU recommend the package is smaller than my hand just to provide perspective. That said I wanted small floats for the times I need to add one when trout fishing or fishing for panfish. The peg is perfect for my application where I want a set hold point that is quickly adjustable and want to be able to add the float without retying. That’s the real advantage here. You can add this float to your line without retying and adjust the depth easily with the peg so it won’t kink your line like a traditionalit. If I need to set this too deep then I’d switch over to ait with a thread stop to make casting easier. But like I said, these are a great value for the price I paid. Probably better suited to applications where your depth is 5-feet or less for the sake of casting.

Wow just seeing this out of the box kzfaq.infoUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

This projector gets the job done pretty well. kzfaq.infoUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.

Had the bow set up at a pro shop. It performed just fine kzfaq.infoUgkxQEKUoxLWwayEDZR0NKB-5limn4MBU-2L . And I would say this is a good starting now that I could pass down to my son when he is older. But the package was missing the release and a nock was missing from one arrow.Dealing with customer support was terrible. They suggested I buy a new release rather than correct their own quality control issue because it’s to expensive for the. to ship it out from China.Update: manufacturer got back to me and resolved the issue. I retract the above statement.
