Mountain was always such a paradox. How they could be sort of sloppy/all over the place one the one hand and yet tight as hell and in the groove on the other. Great band, sadly often overlooked. Leslie West flat out rocked.

I actually saw Leslie and Mountain in St. Louis in 1977ish they had cleaned up their sound and they killed . The show stopper however was a slow ballad called " Theme from an Imaginary Western " Leslie played the solo in that song note for note and brought the house down .

I think he was angry. You can see him yell across the stage once. I think that anger made this performance better, like he was saying "Fk yall, watch this!". I think he was unhappy with the whole production, so he set fire to that studio.

I know, right?! That's one of the things I like most about this; the band was upset. Leslie was pissed off at the whole scene, so in light of that he decided to give one of the most powerful performances of the rock and roll era, and gave it to some kids that had no idea that this would be the highlight of some of their lives
