I wonder if thats the same guy who brings hos ducks to the rice paddy field, he charges for this as the ducks each all the pests and make for a good harvest. Clever little business and a double whammy as he gets paid and the ducks get fed :).

you can shop and eat cheaply in both countries and if you use local brands and not imported brands there is not a lot of difference price wise in my opinion, obviously if you want top grade beef in thailand it will be more expensive or top grade lobster in the uk will be more expensive, but either would be a rare treat for me not every day meals, try to eat as a local in either country and food prices are fair, yes i crave western foods when in thailand and i know i will have to pay a premium for that, i noticed that chicken breast was cheaper than thigh or other parts of the chicken and its the opposite in the uk, thanks for sharing but its difficult to compare like for like when i eat differently in each country, ie rice or noodles rather than potatoes and bread as staples, and shopping and eating habits are different for each person i am quite frugle so look for cheaper options whereas i have friends who spend a lot lot more than me on food, fruit and veg is cheaper at the fresh markets in thailand than the super stores, if you like alcohol beer and spirits are cheaper again if you drink local (non imported) drinks, cheers

All ferang foods are a lot more expensive in Thailand just as all oriental foods are more expensive ive the UK . Fish sauce in uk is £2.80 (130 baht ish) in Khao Suan Kwang Tesco was 25 baht last year, Mama Noodles here are £1.35 to £1.50 ( 55 baht ish) for the small packets here but in 7-11 are about 25 baht. smal eggplants here in a pack of 5 were £7 last week in Leeds or Bradford (320 baht ish) a kg with about 35 to 40 in Khao Suan Kwang market 25 baht ish . Its supply and demand. I bet its the same in Cambodia or Vietnam. Cheese and dairy always has been more expensinve as Thais don,t really do dairy apart from the little yakhult yoghurt drink things. Most big citys in Thialand have an Irish bar or English pub that do a sunday roast but Ive never seen a carvery maybe theres an idea for a business , im sure Thais would love one as they do love a buffet . I find I try to leave ferang foods alone when in LOS and stick to Thai food whoch is far cheaper. I noticed MacDonalds and KFC are chearer in Thailand but not by that much It;s. Scotch whiskey in Thailand or American burbon is far more expensive than the Mekong spirit drink or the SamSong rum stuff , although Im guessing thats more due to import taxes though,+ the Thais cant handle real scotch whiskey as its much more potent than that Hong thong or Blend 123 crap.

Our average monthly bills here in the UK are £2500 with the mortgage , petrol, insurance , food , gas and electric etc. When we are in issan for a month it costs around £500 a month and that includes having a couple of beers every day and often feeding the family at our house, We generally only drink a couple of times a month in the UK as its far too expensive for us to go to the pub more than that- a pint in my local now here is £5-50. The things that are cheaper here are generally not what Thais eat eg dairy produce like milk butter / margerine and cheese etc. If you bring your mrs over she will have a heart attack when shes sees the price of Thai foods here eg a pack of 5 thai eggplants in the UK are now £7 where as its 20 baht( 40p) per kilo in Thailand and you would get around 35 to 40 egg plants. Mama noodles are £1-25 to £2-50 here depending where you but them and agian are around 20 baht in Thailand . As you said you cannot really compare are the average wages are higher ( providing you are not self emplyed ) but also things are more expensive here when its stuff that is not too popular and its the same in Thailand - ferang foods are always far more expensive but as we all know ferang are always over charged there its just the way it always has been at least for the 22 years Ive been going anyway.the cost of living is definitely subjective to whether its a produce that is used by the nationals of that aprticular country. Glad youve enjoyed coming back Mick. when Ive finally sold the house here and get to Khonkaen will be in touch and meet up on a bike ride out . Safe journey back matey.

thanks for sharing i have to agree shopping at aldi or lidl is cheaper for groceries than lotus or big c, especially if you buy their basic products which the thai stores don't do much of. but you have the option of fresh markets in thailand which are becoming more and more of a rarity here, the whole world has had huge inflation lately and its always the people on lower incomes that feel it more wherever you are in the world, i live in carlisle in the far north of england and want to retire to thailand, but my life style and costs will be similar as i have no rent as i own my property here and would have to rent there, fuel is cheaper but vehicles are more expensive, general living is less depending on your lifestyle and location, so really to live a good life in either place you need to have money either way, cheers

Hi, I was back in the UK 4 years ago and yes, somethings are cheaper in the UK but thats because they are made or produced in the UK or Europe. Thai goods purchased in the UK are more expensive than in Thailand, I was just recently on Koh Chang and the goods in the 7/11 were about 10/15 % more expensive than on the mainland. This is normal all across the world. If you want good value you have to eat and drink the local produce, Cheers
@thaitraveller9756
@thaitraveller9756 Ай бұрын
you are totally right found goods especially meats cheaper in supermarkets with better selection eating is dearer in uk because energy and property prices are higher but thats also reflected in the cost of living min wage in uk 11.45 an hour or 520 bht average wage 300 baht a day in thailand ,thats the difference

Nice Review! I’m considering getting an ADV 160. Do you mind sharing how tall you are? I’m 5’6” (167cm) and 125lbs (56kg). I believe my leg inseam is about 30” (762mm) and the seat height is 30.7” (780mm) which is a little lower than the 150 (795mm). Being new to bikes, my main concern is it being to high and not being able to flat foot it, especially with my gf on the back (she just about 148cm tall). I am also surprised you found the seat comfortable - I’ve heard that it’s a torture seat from other reviews (though they all seem to be pretty tall or heavy people).
