Mr. C here. Last week was a very clear panic showing moment from me on stream. I went 0-2 at Cav Clash, not helping the bad looming feeling of dread. I took the time to ask really good players about what they did when they had the same problems as me, currently. JdAsH and Nomad in particular gave really good advice that I tried carrying over this day: Don’t expect players to change bad habits and have a gameplan malleable to match someone’s lower skill level. Also, improvement isn’t linear, so be patient with it. Cut to a day later, I got eliminated early in side bracket, so I wanted to slow things down for a bit. I went upstairs and moped to myself for a little while. I saw Sora_J, and for those who don’t know, he’s a borderline top player in the making who plays Daisy, and he was visiting RVA from SoVA this week. On a whim, I asked him for friendlies, thinking I’d get my cheeks clapped. We played 3 friendly games. I got destroyed the first game. Then I slowed things down and took my time to adapt, and actually took a friendly game off Sora_J of all people. The third game felt super spectacular, and felt like a true back and forth of who can adapt back better. He ended up taking it, but I felt such a rush from those three games alone, like confirmation I can truly brew if I need to. Main bracket starts, and I realize I’m gonna play on stream soon. I felt nervous, but I knew I could pull off the win. I affirmed in my head that everything was gonna be alright, and hopped on stream. I went in with a plan malleable enough to take into account with how he was playing, and remembered to not expect him to change bad habits. Lo and behold, I had a very dominant set. My friend does call this matchup “1984,” but still. If you read my comment on last week’s set vs Cory, you’ll read about a “premonition” of mine. While this win isn’t as impressive compared to what could’ve been a former RVA PR win, it’s objectively a good win, and I am happy about it. It won’t be easy, but I think something can brew if I nudge at it hard enough. Thank you for reading this dumb, long comment and don’t get farmed out there. Peace.

Mr. C here. Ooh boy… I have a lot of feelings about this set. To start, the night before this, I had a strange gut feeling that something big is brewing in my favor, and I still feel that somewhat, but it was *strong* that night. I realized then also, that I didn’t have a main bracket set at the new venue, so this day I asked Madison if I could be on stream to gauge my progress in a VOD. Anyways, game 1 was absolutely great. My conversions and movement felt amazing. Going into game 2, I felt the momentum but kept in mind Cory would do his best to adapt. I completely forgot about the “Skyjay effect”: Getting terrified out of your mind vs Incineroar and the Incin player smelling and capitalizing off it. My fear went from about a 15 to 100 about here: 5:43. I completely mentally shattered seeing myself take 60% and now losing. In comes the panic YOLO options to get bodied. Game 3 felt absolutely awful for me, and you saw the VOD, you know how it goes. Even after the set, that panic feeling state did not dissipate. If you were there and talked to me, you know exactly what I mean by that. I don’t feel like describing it. Post night of rest clarity did me wonders, however. I still realized I had a crazy dominant game 1, and if I can just control my fear, I can clutch it out somewhere and somehow. It’s not as strong a feeling as that night I first felt it, but I do believe something great’s coming my way. I just have to be patient. Smell y’all later.

Mr. C here. I’m gonna try doing sort of “journal entry” for each one of my VODs because why not. Where do I even begin with this set? I managed to even get to Winner’s Round 3 because I beat JdAsH, making a 21 seed upset in the process, and getting my best win to date. Let me tell you, it was not easy at all. Winning that took so much of my mental stamina that playing this set felt 5 times more difficult than it needed to be. This set was on stream only because I asked Madison before bracket started if my set vs JdAsH could be streamed. She said probably not, but if I won that set, she’d put this set on stream, so that’s how I got here. Back to this set, I’ve gotta give props to Abiotic here. He showed clearly that he knew the Inkling matchup playing this. Granted, we’ve played a good amount of friendlies together and he’s up in probably at least 3 sets against me, but he was so precise with all the counter play, situational knowledge, etc. the entire time. While I wish I could’ve found a way to clutch it out, obviously, me just being here this deep in bracket is enough of an accomplishment for me and I’m very glad I kept persisting all this time, and most importantly, I’d like to thank my friends and God most of all for this day’s results. J$ and Izuke challenged my views and mindset with this game, and also helped convince me to go solo Inkling in brackets going forward. I’m super grateful to them for sticking with me through all the stuff that’s happened so far, and for not giving up on me. It took me 10 months before I made my first upset at RVA when returning from Kansas. I definitely felt demoralized frequently, constantly losing over and over, but I’m so glad I stuck with this passionate hobby of mine. Here’s to many more victories!

Yeah there's a huge gap from the first active frame and the second. Alot of big sweeping moves with fast animations have this problem. They should just extend the hit box back from the sword as it swings forward, that way you don't have to add frames but still get sensible coverage.
