I am of the belief that st any point Eren could have chosen to not follow through with The Rumbling, and instead run away with Mikasa. But does so anyways because he could not let go of his hatred for the people who took away his freedom, hence the line "I'm not free Armin. I am a slave to freedom".

I mean, let’s take it back and look at Miguel O’Hara on the post credit scene. He wasn’t that buff and Jack and he was funny and get away with a jump into another universe and when he jumped in, he met Spider-Man from the 67 and now what we see Miguel in the movies, he’s morally aggressive with Miles, angry and frustrated with him for for some reason now because he is a amonopoly. It because he’s afraid of Miles stopping him with his plan. His main goal is to get the whole spider society kill so he can drain their power so he can live. Miguel is not Miguel. He’s not Spider-Man.

Eren didn't destroy 80% humanity rather he saved 20% humanity by letting his friends kill him and not complete the rumbling else Yimir would've wiped out everyone apart from Eldians. The curse of titans would never end. AoT poses a trolley problem, the other alternative is to let all Edians die for rest of the world which is a horrific thing to do and this would count as actual genocide. Eren is amazing and one of a kind. He's just a boy with weight of the world on his shoulders and made greatest sacrifice

Can Eren change his future?
@paladdalap7913
@paladdalap7913 2 ай бұрын
You're ignoring the fact that Eren wanted to destroy the world. He admitted it himself, and twice - the first time in front of the boy, when he cried, knowing that he would kill him in the future. And the second time in a conversation with Armin, saying that "I wanted to do it at any cost." It is wrong to think Eren is just a victim who allegedly sacrificed himself. This is a misunderstanding of his character, aimed at making him more "morally justified" and "normal". But the essence of Eren's character is that he had no moral excuses, and even the "predetermined" future was such only because Eren himself, deep down, wanted such a future, even though he was afraid to admit it even to himself. This future was like that because that was exactly what he wanted, that's all. He was a slave to his desire for freedom, the desire to make the world "free" as he imagined it in childhood, and he could not resist this desire to destroy humanity, even realizing how crazy and terrible it was. To cope with this, he made up excuses for himself, "it's for the island," "to protect friends," and so on. But he said himself that this is not the true reason. When Armin asked him, "So you did all this for us?" Eren replied, "No... I wanted to do it."

The attack on Titan is a masterpiece not because of anything else was because of realism eren yeager we always will be the reason I watch attack on Titan just because of him can I do and I think his character was simple all he did for his people and he has he will his nobody slave because he is freedom writer change the ending for some reason make his character assassination development to a hero to anti hero to anti villain full villain is wasted you like it and you hate it and you feel whatever you want but in of the day you have to sympathize with him
@ImHomiesexual
@ImHomiesexual 4 ай бұрын
Yup, just like I expected everyone is just coping in the comment section trying to deny that Eren was the anti villain of the story. His intentions were never pure but he had a rough idea of what would be somewhat beneficial for the eldians and he decided to go for it. He had started with the solution what was to kill everything that was threatening eldians and then he made up the justifications along the way. Ignorance is a bliss but if you go through life with blindfolders on, when the truth eventually catches up on you, you'll have nothing to grasp on and you'll fall. If there was something true he said, it was the time he said "I was just an idiot with power" and he was the most stupidest fucking idiot you could've given the power.

Also there was no romance between Eren and Mikasa, Mikasa was the only one who had any feelings for the other and Eren just saw Mikasa as a sister and a friend. Even in the dream cabin land he didn't seem fulfilled or happy and I got the feeling that he thought Historia with more passion and care than he thought Mikasa but I still believe he isn't fathering her kid.

I have a totally different interpretation of the ending. What if all Eren said to Armin was a total lie, a lie told for a very specific reason? I think Eren had an off screen romance with Historia during the time skip, and that that is what massively changed his personality. I also think Historia's child was Erens and not some random farmers. Why would this make all the difference? It would mean that in order to save his love and his unborn child from being used as bio-weapons, he HAD to create a decisive victory for Paradis, so he HAD to do the rumbling, but not because of some bullshit deterministic history, but because that was the only way to free his child from being used as a weapon. Just abolishing titan powers, would have Paradis destroyed, so he had to do the mass genocide. However, the subject of a justified genocide is highly tabu in our society, so I believe Isayama could not write that ending outright in fear of an outrage. But if Eren did the rumbling to save his own child, why did he lie to Armin at the end? Because if the truth had gotten out, it would have made Historia one of the most hated persons in the world as she was the beneficiary of the rumbling. So he had to lie to Armin and die with the truth. All he said about loving Mikasa romantically and being unable to change the future was just total BS! And also if Eren did the rumbling to save his own child, and died in the process, was it really a suicide? Unless he was sure that titan powers would be abolished, he knew he had only a couple of years left to live anyway. Yes Eren let himself be killed by his friends, probably because he did not want to kill his old friends, and because he thought that the rumbling had progressed long enough to keep Historia safe. And think of it, if Eren had survived, he still could not go back to Historia and live peacefully after what he had done, so letting himself be killed at the end was the only way out. So at the end of it Eren committed mass genocide and sacrificed himself, to save his love, his own child and his old friends. That is what I think actually happened!

You say Eren living his last years with Mikasa would be worse for everyone, but it WOULDN'T! It may be worse for his friends, maybe even for Eldians, but it wouldn't be worse for the world. His friends didn't get to live the lives they wanted, they just get to live (some of them at least). Eren did everything for his friends, but also for himself!! And it's not even linked to his powers and Ymir: he's dreaming of freedom (not true freedom, but the freedom he wants for himself in his head and in Armin's book) and he's already killing people as a kid - it may be to protect Mikasa, but it may be because Eren WANTS to kill. He's not free, so he tries to force control on other people to feel better about not being truly free himself. There is always a choice, before and after he becomes a titan. Eren is a traumatised kid who can't heal from his trauma, rejects reality and has the tools to try (and more or less succeeed but also fail) transforming the world to correspond to his own distorted idea of freedom.

I agree and what i meant by everyone was his friends at the end. Eren wanted to protect the thing he wanted the most and that was his friends which is selfish yes, but also helped his friends and the eldians be free

He wanted to end Titans once in for all and he did it...he wouldn't have achieved it by living his last years with Mikasa....Marleyans and rest of the world (n some Jaegerists) would still just take advantage of Titans for how ever long they can and the violence through Titans would never end

you know, that ending ruined the show for me. I already did not appreciate most of what came after the time skip. But the determinism rly fcked it up. Its just code geass ending, but instead of someone sacrificing himself willingly - Eren just goes murder hobo and is like "well could have been worse". Free will. That was the main drive of the first 3 season. That made AoT intresting. I dont know what happened to the author - but in my mind - he really skrewed up big time.

Attack on titan is one of the most tragic stories i think ever written. given a moral dilemma truly unfathomable. Taking essentially the Trolley Problem and extending it out to its greatest degree. its the type of situation that can't truly be argued clearly from a right or wrong lens, because in reality you don't ever have the big picture and the future in sight. i think its best to take it in simply as the tragedy that it is

Everyone in the comments justifying what eren did and making excuses. But he said it clear as day he was gonna kill everyone no matter what. Even tho he could have done this in so many ways. He didnt even try to pull a le louch. Spoilers for codegeass. At the end of codegeass. Le louch does something similar to eren where he becomes the ultimate person in power and rules over everyone like a dictator instead of a nice king. His while theory behind being cruel was he wanted a peacful world for his sister so once he was the center of all evil. He told his best friend suzaku to assasinate him infront of everyone. That way everyone would know that the most, and final evil villian would be slain making the world a place of freedom. This is important because just like in attack on titan in the end. Eren was still a villian to marleyans, and they all still feared dying to eldians becoming titans. If eren used the rumbling to make it clear he was the ultimate evil and if hes defeated the world could live in peace, knowing his friends would kill him. Eren could have gone down as one as one of the greatest martyrs of all time and the show probably would have been one of the greatest anime ever next to literally top 5's like dbz and Naruto. But i find it to be a great injustice to the show to make eren this clueless murderer that just wished he could be with his friends on some headass shit

I think attack on titans ending is probably by far the worst and only genuinely terrible part of the show in my eyes. Yes, but if you go one step deeper, power is the real problem. Anyone who get their hands on a power like the founder titan will either use it to tyrannize or cause enough fear that the enemy has practically no choice but to attempt to remove the threat. It's unreasonable to ask the powerless party to "just trust". The power either needs to be distributed reletively evenly amongst all the parties or removed from the system.

I like to think that since the paths dimension is timeless, eren spend WHO KNOWS how long checking the different realities for his "PREFECT FUTURE" But in the end, he lost hope and just pick the one that guarantees his friends safety. His mindset no doubt changed to "the end justified the means" and did what he have to, (despite hating it) to ensure his friends safety. But sadly while he could see different realities, he couldn't control other people to follow him. So his plan was ruined at the VERY END (by his friends) and he had to salvage it. I think the reason eren broke down in front of armin is because since eren was about to die, he released ALL his pent up emotions at once. If his plan went through as intended (meaning his friends DON'T try and stop him) he would have took time to properly EXPLAIN HIMSELF afterwards. Even if the other hate him for it. He would be okay with it, because his friends are now safe.
