@@MikesMusicCorner11 mucho éxito. Hay un canal llamado Justin Johnson, hace covers y prueba distintas guitarras para hacer blues o country

You need to use the double thumb technique so when you are picking the thumb alternates on the 6th string and the 4th string generally. That combination will vary slightly depending on which chord you are playing. Keep it up, you will get there. I taught myself the picking off a Joan Baez record in the 60's. I turned the record player down to 16 so I could clearly hear the notes. Took me forever as there were no books out at that time that showed the picking sequence either my the musical staff or by tablature. The sequence is a total of 6 notes with an extra note between the first note and the 6th note. This will all make sense when you get farther along. I belived there are some youtube videos that show how to do the picking. Good luck

I have the Squier Affinity Series FSR Telecaster Electric Guitar, Lake Placid Blue, Maple Fingerboard 250.00 USD ,or something, & the cheaper version is like 199.00 ,but it isn't string though the body hence maybe cheaper? I dunno . Anyway it is true in my opinion that which ever one we buy, it's best to change out the pickups ....the stock pick ups in my opinion sound OK, but nothing impressive. There are higher end models in the series that come with the AlNiCos in that 450.00 USD price range..

Thanks for your comment, Mr. Phats. We obviously agree. Though the cheap pickups that came with my guitar, in isolation, were ok, clearly they were just that, just ok. There was an amazing difference when I put in decent pickups, to be sure. Take care!

Quick question. How do you prevent neck bowing?
@MikesMusicCorner112 ай бұрын
Unsure, my guitar tech just found mine that way. My guess is buy guitars with good quality reputations; don't overdo your truss rod; have a neck with a two-way truss rod so you can add or take away relief. I'm not the right person to ask. But, hope this helps.

It is great seeing someone like me working on upgrading a Squier Telecaster. Thanks.

So, are you saying you're also working or worked on a Squire Tele upgrade or that you're like me in some way when it comes to a project like that? Either way, it's great that you have tuned into my videos and I hope you're getting something out of them. Take care! Mike

@@MikesMusicCorner11 I put new tuners and new saddles on a used Squier Telecaster that I recently bought. Owned many guitars over past few years and spent a lot of money on techs doing upgrades and repairs for me. This was the first time I did the work myself. Feels good.

@@piano2873 Very cool! Hope you're having fun. I do like doing as much work myself, until I can't. LOL I assume, by the name of your handle, you're also a piano person too?

Tried to watch the first video and saw about one minute of intro, then nothing but blackness and silence. So, this second video is a big improvement. Because it exists.

LOL, well, to be sure, you watched a video when I was still trying to figure out how to do them and using bad free editing software and didn't know what I was doing. I'd like to think I've made good strides to making ok videos now with few issues, aside from the content perhaps. But, I'm glad you got to see the whole video this time and I hope you enjoy the entire series, especially if you're a guitar upgrading fan! Take care.

I would have used cow bone myself.
@MikesMusicCorner113 ай бұрын
Thanks for the remark and your perspective. This whole bone vs tusq is quite interesting. Actually, if my luthier, Sean, had his way he would have preferred bone, just like you. His perspective, and doubt he's alone, is that he likes bone for the tone and because he can make it look almost like jewelry, but since it's a natural material apparently can get inconsistent tones from all six strings; however, though perhaps the tone and the looks (let's face it, it still looks like plastic) are not as good with tusq, since it's a manmade material, it's very consistent from string to string. Anyway, this is my understanding of the comparisons; I'm sure it's probably more complicated that this. Thank again!

I've never had to do this myself, but what I've seen people do is fill the original holes with dowels and glue, or even toothpicks. Then for locating the new pins there are inexpensive templates you can buy that will make it easy to get them in the correct place.

Hi Either Boy, that is great information and I very much appreciate the feedback. As I note, my attempt was very rudimentary. If I attempt a similar project in the future - god forbit, lol - I'm certainly take your great advice into consideration. Take Care!

You mentioned some of the video was lost some but where you picked up was still very interesting. As a novice player (still struggling on scales), it was enlightening to see you make these mods, I never thought about all that goes into making it work. The audio and lighting was good. I also appreciated that there wasn't a ton of hand jesters, made the video less distracting. You seemed really relieved at the end and finally cracked a smile! HA HA! :D
@MikesMusicCorner114 ай бұрын
Hi NBshana, yes, I suppose you're right; it would not hurt me to smile more in my videos. I'll have to work on that. Thanks for the kind comments and I can very much relate to being a novice player. Despite playing myself for a few years, my fingers often remind me that I am still struggling to bust out of that beginner phase and into the intermediate phase. Always seems to allude me. Anyway, I give you kudos for your persistence keeping at it. Look forward to hearing from you with my future videos. Take care!

Nice boxing! Actually, a very pretty looking guitar, the biggest and most dramatic upgrade will be the pick ups and the control wiring. And if you’re looking to replace the nut, I recommend the company Tusq. Keep them coming!
@MikesMusicCorner114 ай бұрын
Hi @adamharr, very grateful for your insight. I certainly will be exploring upgrading the pickups and control wiring. Stay tuned for my next video which will go in depth about every mod I plan on making. Oh yes, definitely planning on a Tusq nut. Keep the good helpful thoughts coming as I get some wind in my sails with Project Isaac! Take care.
