It was a fire in a "tiny house" encampment - the smoke cloud was blowing right over the road, so it made for some dramatic footage. Thanks for watching!

Wow, I got several things to say: 1. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! 2. funfact in connection with 1st: just yesterday I was thinking: "man, it's been a long time since the last video from Lucas, I wonder if they had their baby yet and that's the reason why".. well what should I say, maybe I should get a job as an oracle 😂😂😂 3. As always, great video! 4. Your dad seems to have a good camera and he takes good shots with it as well.. maybe he should get involved in the internet business if you know what I mean 5. You won't only have more time as the little guy grows up, I think you'll have the next generation of Fire/EMS/Police/... video maker right by your side when you're out filming 😁 6. When you've got the time again, can you please get more shots like the outro? Just driving on the Interstate or Highway at night, moderate traffic, Seattle skyline in the back, what a beautiful, relaxing shot 😍

Thank you for the kind and thoughtful comment! I'll let my dad know you were a fan, and hopefully he'll film more stuff for me - I did tell him to hold his phone sideways next time 😂. Yep, I'm hoping the little one will be a firetruck fan as she gets older; I just have to get some ear protectors for her when we go out! Thanks again for watching and commenting - hope you're having a good summer!

Hey Lucas, I will be visiting in Seattle soon- which fire stations would you say are the busiest or best to visit/film at?
@lucaslaughing26 күн бұрын
Awesome! I'd go with Stations 10, 2 and 25. They all tend to be pretty busy, although it can be really hit or miss depending on the calls.

Why are they not going to be in use? Are they retiring them? Or using them for training?
@WATrafficCamResponses21 күн бұрын
@@djdave3472 They're all now about 2-3 generations behind. The ALFs got replaced by the E-ONE Cyclones which the last of are being replaced by the Pierce Enforcer/Arrow XTs which are being replaced by newer Enforcers 1995/96 E-One Protector -> 2000 E-One Cylone II -> 2003 American LaFrance Metropolitan -> 2006/07/08/09 E-One Cyclone II / E-One Quest -> 2013/14/15 Pierce Arrow XT -> 2017/18/19 Pierce Enforcer -> 2024 Pierce Enforcer (on order) The current ALFs are used as training, but would not be surprised if they are retired soon

That's an impressive find! As someone from Germany, I can offer additional insights into that engine. The LF8 stands for Löschgruppenfahrzeug 8, or Firefighting Group Vehicle 8, typically manned by 9 firefighters, including 8 crew members and 1 officer, known as the Gruppenführer or Group Leader. These engines might have a front-mounted pump connected to the power take-off unit, or a separate fire pump powered by its own engine, which can be removed from the vehicle. A standard LF8 doesn't carry water; it relies on external sources like hydrants or drafting, with the number 8 indicating its capacity to pump 800 liters per minute at 8 bar pressure. Similar vehicles, like the LF8/6, were equipped with a 600-liter booster tank. While these models are no longer sold new and have been phased out of the norm, they're still used by some rural volunteer fire brigades. Nowadays, departments typically opt for the rescue engine 20 (HLF) or tanker pumpers (TLF), available in various standardized sizes akin to NFPA classifications. The numbering system is quite efficient for an incident commander to assess the capabilities of incoming equipment quickly. For instance, an 'H' signifies rescue equipment (Hilfeleistung), a '20' indicates a pumping capacity of 2000 liters, and a '16' denotes a 1600-liter onboard water supply. The number of personnel is represented by the term 'group' (Gruppe), with variations like 'Staffel' (St) for a 6-person engine. Therefore, a HLF20/16 would immediately inform the incident commander of the unit's capabilities.

Great catches; you must've driven straight down the hill to get there ahead of L5! Fireboat 2 sounds like it sports some pretty beefy powerplants!
@lucaslaughing3 ай бұрын
Thanks Craig! L5 was heading westbound down 85th, the same route I took, so I'm not sure how I beat them. My guess is that Golden Gardens Drive might be too much for even the tiller to handle (maybe that hairpin turn by the overflow parking), so they must have gone down 32nd to 61st? Not sure. And I agree about the boat - definitely sounds like it has some power to it!

If that boat is Seattle Fire Department how does it have blue emergency lights on it? Do the rules about law enforcement only being allowed to use blue flashing lights only apply to motor vehicles or something?
@lucaslaughing3 ай бұрын
Not positive, but my guess is that maritime lighting laws differ from land based laws, since all of the SFD boats have blue lights. The Fire Marshal SUV also has red and blue lights, but I'm guessing that's because they're law-enforcement adjacent. Thanks for watching!

Thank you! I'm not sure if they have regular hours - they usually run in the evenings, but I don't know how many days a week they go. They just paved over some of the tracks too, so I'm not sure how that's affected their operation.
