May I remind you it's Yang family and not Yang style

Thanks for pointing that out! You’re right, it is traditional Yang family Tai Chi. I use 'Yang style' because it's a term more people are familiar with. Appreciate the reminder!

@ladytaichiАй бұрын
I was! I broke my foot but was finally cleared to start practicing Tai chi and Yoga again 🙌
@wadehamlinАй бұрын
@@ladytaichi Were you good on your crutches?
@ladytaichiАй бұрын
@wadehamlin yes, thankfully all of the Tai chi and yoga helps with balance and strength so it was really easy to use the crutches. That boot I was wearing weighed 5lbs tho and I was so excited to stop carrying it around with a bent knee!
@dawiedarlingАй бұрын
"Energy" does not stop with a fully straightened knee. Motion changes.
@ladytaichiАй бұрын
Absolutely, you're right! 'Energy' and movement are continuous, and the dynamics change as we move and practice forms. But if we are holding a pose and working on alignment we want to make sure that we do not lock out the knees. Thanks for pointing that out and adding to the discussion!
@dawiedarlingАй бұрын
@@ladytaichi When I teach Tai Chi, I find that people over-focus on some ideas and that I must point out that the routine does not stop - it flows
@ladytaichiАй бұрын
@dawiedarling absolutely! I am always reminding people to let go and find the flow. It is so important but alignment is important too so I try to find the balance between between in my classes.
@dawiedarlingАй бұрын
The knee is a hinge joint. Gravity is a constant. So, putting the feet under the shoulders instead of the hip socket will always result in a crooked knee
@ladytaichiАй бұрын
Alignment definitely plays a crucial role in our body's health. The ideal position is having the outside edge of our shoes match the outside edge of our shoulders so that our footwork is positioned under our shoulders and hips, neither too wide nor too narrow. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@dawiedarlingАй бұрын
@@ladytaichi many old fashioned ideas persist
@dawiedarlingАй бұрын
None of this foot positioning matters if the person is wearing shoes with a pointed or rounded front and a lift under the heel...most exercise shoes
@ladytaichiАй бұрын
You make a great point, proper footwear is really important for getting the most out of these exercises. It's best to go for shoes with a flat sole and plenty of room for your toes to move. I prefer to wear skateboarding shoes because of the flat sole, extra support, and wide toe box so I can connect my whole foot to the ground. But everyone can benefit from checking in on their foot alignment. Looking at our favorite shoes is a great way to check on where the weight is in our feet so that we can try to have the weight centered no matter what shoes we are wearing!
@ladytaichiАй бұрын
I removed your last comment by accident but I agree, it is time to teach people about shoes! This will happen in a later video 😉

hi thanks you. the seting poss is very painfull to my back waht can i do?
@ladytaichiАй бұрын
Hi there! I’m sorry to hear the seating pose is causing you pain. You could include many variations but start by trying to sit on a block, pillow, or folded blanket to prop the hips up and support your back. You could sit with the legs extended out in front or include relaxing the spine and rounding the back on your inhales and then sit up tall when you exhale. Other options include sitting in a chair for the first few minutes or even starting lying down or in child's pose. Always listen to your body and do what feels best!
