Where did you get the seat cover. Was it from Thailand or from evo-mx?

When i reached 16 in uk, i got a dt50mx. Air cooled mono shock. Think 1986 or so, to get to shop and college. Liquid cooling only on 125 or above. Metric numbers though.👍

Glory days. There are a few dt50 mx groups on Facebook. These little bikes are often more fun than the big ones. 80 cc would be perfect on her. I might try a bored out cylinder one day.

How does she start first kick like that ? I got the dt 1988 blue and yellow 4000 miles on it. But it doesn’t kick start straight away and doesn’t idle like yours. It does when it’s warmed up. But when it’s cold i need to accelerate to keep her running otherwise she just like shuts off. Tips ? Thanks, you did a fantastic job !

@@nikolaiandreassen4768ok. I rode it yesterday and pulled the clutch in half way during shifts. Held the revs better. I’ve just always pulled clutches all the way in and let off on throttle. But def liked half clutch better. Any other tips? Always open.

I had an 89 KTM DXC I used to race in the late 90s!! I loved that bike, I only sold it in 2004 for like a grand because it was hard to find parts for at that point and bought a KTM 300 instead. In hindsight I should have kept the 500. Wont ever be able to get my hands on one nowadays! Enjoy your ride!!

China carb is a no go, you really need the K5 39.5 pwk. That carb by itself really brings these engines to life and eliminates the jetting issues that plagued the 490s. Pwk is super simple to get jetting correct on this bike.

Surprised these videos have not came up on my feed before. You describe this bike very well in this video. Great job. I did not buy mine to look at or resale, I trimmed mine out full MX from 92yz250, fully ported w std head job, and junked the round slide for a pwk from the k5s. With those few mods this bike is extremely effective. This is my fav and as of now my only 500. Used to be a die hard K5 guy tell I picked up this wr500, liked it so much a cleared out ALL my K5 stuff and never looked back since. After setting this bike up, its lighter, handles better and goes just as good as my K5 ever did.
