Hello, I just had a Project X Catalyst 55 5.0 shaft installed in my 7 iron. Can anyone help me if this shaft is regular flex or Senior and I can't feel the club head? I think this is because the grip is 60g. Please tell me if this is true. Thanks.
@FredzGolf5 күн бұрын
Hiya ...the 5.0 is a Senior Flex If the shaft was just glued in and nothing was done to swingweight the club, I'd imagine it's playing very very light (it does depend on the heads original weight sometimes) If there's anywhere that can check the swingweight, this could be the easiest place to find the feel - lead tape would be a cheap way to fix that If the seingweight is in the C range that could be the missing link Standard Grips are 58-60g so I don't think the grip will have much negative influence

The problem with the diamana 50 gram shafts is that the torque is extremly high. Ventus 50gram shafts still has real low tourque which is great for 5x players with swing speed over 110

@edanzore Depends on how much variance there's is from the average ....if any drop to 1400 or lower on an 1800 average... then you are absolutely correct Depends on the golfer and their aims ....also the golf course they play I have 2/3 players that benefit from higher spin like you say ....they have Tour Player Ball Speed ...they alone need higher spin to hit more fairways as they still get over 300 yards with that extra spin Every other golfer ...with under 170 ball speed ....get that ball up there This is, of course, my professional opinion and other opinions will differ, and I'm happy for people to do as they prefer ...My spinrate is 1800 and I choose to get that. Did you adjust for swingweight? This is very important
@FredzGolf14 күн бұрын
It is important, however, 90% of people doing this are cutting down their existing club and not accounting for swingweight If you order from manufacturer (or a club builder like myself) swingweight will be accounted for and standardised The shorter shaft, playing a little stiffer does in a way, do well playing at a slightly lighter swingweight Never seen any issues that damage a golfer with swingweight after doing this while I was in a pro shop/retailer years ago... but would depend what the initial swingweight is before reducing the length (for example if it's already really light) I keep a few various weights for various drivers to balance things out
@ariasfit14 күн бұрын
what are your thoughts on swingweight? does it matter for the average golfer?
@FredzGolf14 күн бұрын
@ariasfit it is important ....but the manufacturers do all the heavy lifting to get it right If swingweight varies a lot through the bag that could be an issue ...if 1 club is way lighter or way heavier than the other 12 clubs in play then it could be harder to keep consistent and in play for that 1 club I've seen a facility do swingweight and biomechanical swingweight matching .....the golfers handicaps and scores don't change ....their skill and on course knowledge is the same

Basically no difference bètween balls. Any real difference the golfer notices will be the placebo effect.

Great video, I definitely agree to go by that Ping chart. I'm 6 feet 2 inches tall (6'2 and a half to be exact) with a 37 inch Wrist to Floor measurement and I use +0.5 and 2 degree upright. When I'm using standard length irons I tend to stand too close to the ball, and hunch my upper body forwards and down lower during my swing and hang my arms down too low which causes a lot of weird swing issues. And it also got me into bad habits with my driver swing as well since I started doing the same thing with driver over time.
